Happy Canada Day from the Unifor bargaining team, who are at the table with Ford Motor Company today working to secure a tentative agreement for more than 5,000 auto members before the July 10 deadline.
More than 100 Unifor and community activists participated in an Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) Symposium in the New Westminster office to discuss the epidemic, learn more about available resources, and brainstorm strategies for ending the violence.
“We expect an agreement that protects jobs, as well as Ford’s commitment to auto manufacturing in Canada and delivers real, meaningful improvements for the workers who have made this industry successful for more than a century,” says @lanapayne.bsky.social.
“There is no doubt we face an unprecedented set of challenges as we embark on these auto negotiations. I want to put something clearly on the record: we are here to make progress for our members,” says @lanapayne.bsky.social on start of negotiations with Ford.
“We believe negotiating with Ford is the best option to reach an agreement to be carried across the Detroit Three,” says Unifor Ford Master Bargaining Chair John D’Agnolo. “Our goal is to reach a deal that raises conditions across the auto industry, while protecting good jobs.” 🧵
Unifor & Ford Motor Company began negotiations this morning on behalf of 5,150 workers at Ford facilities across Canada. This bargaining comes at a pivotal time for Canada’s auto industry, with workers focused on securing a strong future for good jobs & auto manufacturing.
