I looked up the review in Amon Hen 35 (p. 12). According to that, the "Publishers said that the copyright did not stretch to stage productions and that all they could do was a reading" so yours still counts as the first stage production!
I have a program book from 1978 where Homecoming was performed with the permission of George Allen & Unwin. Missed that one, don’t want to miss this one!

The 1957 enquiry to Tolkien about LOTR film rights came from Al Brodax - who would go on to be the producer for the Beatles film Yellow Submarine a decade later, after a long career in animated film and TV works. I wonder what we would have gotten if Al had gotten those rights?

And the answer is..... All are true! I was doing some research on one of the first Tolkien related fanzines and a few hints and cross references exposed me to a newszine titled Skyrack, whose editor liked Tolkien and reported some news tidbits in various issues. 1/🧵

Hey @discord.com why is the iPhone app actively listening on my microphone whenever the app is open? I am not on any voice channels. As soon as I background the app it stops using the mic. Voice is set to “push to talk” only

The art for January 2026 is "Before the rising of the sun Eärendil slew Ancalagon the Black", by Nancy Martsch. Nancy started the Beyond Bree newsletter in 1981, and has been publishing it monthly since then without fail. This piece previously appeared in the 2020 and 1988 calendars. 3/4
