Personally, if I was an ebook vendor who watched to switch from Adobe Digital Editions, I'd wait until my preferred alternative had released iOS and Android apps. But perhaps that's just me.
When I (infrequently!) talk about the iniquities of academic publishing these days, I make the comparison with having to subscribe to streaming services to watch the TV and films you want. This works just as well.

I've been using Netvibes to manage RSS feeds ever since iGoogle was shuttered. Now, Netvibes parent, Dassault Systèmes, have drank the AI kool aid and are closing it down. I am disgusted.
