Unfortunately, this Administration politicizes our federal grant funding, putting vital programs at risk. That’s why I joined over 150 colleagues to demand that OMB Director Vought stop doing this and defend fair, merit-based funding.
No one should have to wait for years to get their hard-earned money back when they file their tax returns. That’s why I helped introduce legislation to require the IRS to deliver tax returns within one year or explain their denial, offering certainty for working families in CA-19.
Great to meet with Oceana advocates to discuss how we can keep plastics out of our oceans and protect our immense beauty in CA-19.
We continue to try to protect funding for California’s nationally leading innovation and scientific research. That’s why I joined my California colleagues in Congress to urge the OMB Director to revoke the proposed rule that would politicize the federal grant process...
When a constituent reached out after her federal employee health insurance declined to cover a critical hip surgery, I quickly contacted and pushed the Office of Personnel Management. Within a couple of weeks, her surgery was approved and scheduled. Happy to get this message from her husband.
Always a pleasure to welcome more constituents from our 19th Congressional District to our nation's Capitol!
Honored to celebrate America’s 250th birthday alongside community members across CA-19 at numerous events on the 4th of July.
Always good to meet with those who are advocating for our local agriculture to discuss ways Congress can continue support our farm workforce in CA-19.
Great to meet with local advocates to discuss ways we can support our Indian-American community and ensure a strong relationship between the U.S. and India.
Our student athletes need guidance and clarity when it comes to the taxes they pay on their NIL earnings. In the Ways and Means Committee, I pressed for answers on how we can support our student athletes, and I will continue to work in Congress to ensure they have the tools to succeed.
A local farmer contacted me recently about filing for compensation from the Department of Agriculture but never heard back. I immediately contacted the agency, got them to work to address the problem, and within just a few weeks, the constituent received their check for nearly $8,000.
Always great to welcome families from California’s 19th Congressional District to the U.S. Capitol during their visits to Washington!
Glad to meet with a constituent to discuss our work together to resolve her case with a federal agency.
Proud to have secured over $74,000 for a local wildfire survivor who contacted me for help securing money they were entitled to under federal law. Great to hear that it’s making a positive difference in their life.
Great to hold another round of office hours to meet face to face with constituents! Always appreciate the opportunity to hear directly from members of California’s 19th Congressional District during these sessions to hear about the issues that matter most in our community.
Glad I had the chance to learn more about the work of local community members who are focused on the mental health needs in CA-19.
Great to receive this message from a constituent. He contacted me for help when his delayed IRS refund caused financial hardships for his family. I quickly got to work and pushed the IRS to help secure his check for over $4,200.
Congress has a constitutional obligation over our nation’s trade policy, but this Administration has cut Congress out of the process. This senseless trade policy has done nothing to lower costs for working families in CA-19 and across the country.
Always good to meet with constituents to learn more about their concerns.
The war with Iran is continuing to cost the American people, and it is critical that we have a clear plan to end it. The Administration’s proposed MOU with Iran has not been fully reviewed by Congress and does nothing to further our national security. newdemocratcoalition.house.gov/imo/media/do...
Had a productive conversation with a CA-19 resident about ways to improve our air travel systems.
IRS delays in processing tax refund claims leave taxpayers waiting for money they are owed and creates financial uncertainty. That's why I am proud to join Rep. Deborah Ross and Rep. Rosa DeLauro in introducing legislation requiring the IRS to respond to tax refund claims within a year.
It was very meaningful to spend my evening celebrating the impact of Community Bridges in Santa Cruz County, which supports the basic needs of the most vulnerable of our community members.
Grateful for the opportunity to speak face-to-face with a local police chief to discuss our work together to keep our streets and families safe.
It was great to march with local leaders, advocates, allies, and our LGBTQ+ community at this year’s Monterey Peninsula Pride Parade.
As the school year winds down, I appreciated the opportunity to welcome students from South San Jose to the U.S. Capitol and answer their questions about Congress and public service.
The backlog at the IRS has left way too many hardworking taxpayers waiting too long for their hard-earned refunds. Our RETURN Act would help restore accountability, efficiency, and transparency by requiring the IRS to respond to refund requests within a year and explain the reasoning for any denial.
Pleased to meet with a local advocacy group for Armenian Americans and discuss our work in Congress to support them in CA-19 and beyond.
The Department of Justice settlement with President Trump aimed to use taxpayer dollars to pay off loyalists, while continuing to shield the President, his sons, and his company from tax audits. That’s why I support legislation to ensure that any settlement involving a President receives careful...
Honored and excited to welcome the winner of this year’s CA-19 Congressional Art Competition, to our nation’s capital so she can see her work proudly displayed in the halls of Congress. Can’t wait to see her dynamic self-portrait in the House tunnels every time walk to the Capitol.
