Thinking about climate, equity, rainbow/trans rights. Toitū te Tiriti. Mum. She/her. Love a good book, especially NZ fiction. Cat person with a dog. Aotearoa. 🍉
This grandstanding does nothing to encourage cross-party cooperation in the future. It was clearly a members bill by Labour's Ginny Andersen and everyone came to the party on it, esp the Greens. I wonder if we should all just put the same comment under his post for effectiveness.
ACT's Laura McClure doing her cult's induction, UK leg. From frothing over Maggie Thatcher's bronze image to meeting with Reform. 🤮 What will tomorrow bring?
Anybody else see this yesterday? NZHerald's attempt to explain that ACT was not announcing Henry's candidacy to cover up more of Jago's offending. But in doing so, they've revealed how long ago ACT knew he (TVNZ board member) would be joining them. Why isn't there a fuss like with Rakesh Naidoo?
Gender definition bill...FYI for those that are wondering where there submission is, I got the attached reply from the committee today. Basically, they're reviewing them before they upload, so are still uploading them.
At tonight's very right wing residents association meeting in the Tāmaki electorate, Labour candidate (and all round great guy) Max Harris, used a question about equity v equality to advocate for woman's pay equity. Just give him the seat already. #nzpol
✅️ Submission for the Legislation (Definition of Man and Woman) Amendment Bill complete. 📖 Thanks to a little inspo from Hannah Gadsby in her book "Ten Steps to Nanette". Tonight's the last night to get this done! #nzpol
Peters, being his usual rotten two faced self, telling the crowd he "had to" vote for it but he'll reverse it. Sure Winston, sure.
@davidfarrier.com I see your old pal Joseph Gordon Levitt is named in Peter Thiel's not-so-secret org.
Anyone want an opportunity to tell Simeon what they think about his healthcare policies or your super high power bills? Come along and meet him here or protest outside. Same location as women's pay equity protest. #nzpol
Chlöe sharing the facts at today's protest against the coalition govt's definition of man and woman bill. It's not about protecting women, it's about control. #nzpol @swarckland.bsky.social
Nobody tell @dimsie.bsky.social but this was one of my favourite signs today. Amaze, amaze, amaze! #nzpol
Amazing protest in Tāmaki Makaurau as part of a national day of action against the bigoted coalition government's legislation trying to define a woman and man. Real feminists know women can't be defined. #transrights
Everyone who showed up for the Posie Parker protest, I hope you can make this one! Let's stand with trans, non binary and intersex whānau and let the government know this "Definition" bill isn't needed or wanted. See you there! 🏳️⚧️🌈
Way too many pricks outside Aotea Centre... perhaps they should have had their immunisations! Counterspin thugs out in force.
It was incredible to hear @elizabethknoxnz.bsky.social speak at the Writers Fest today. My most treasured author since first reading her books 30+ years ago. I didn't get a chance to say how special her current memoir is, it is evoking so many memories and emotions of my own. A gift, thank you.
First session of the Auckland Writers Fest for me. Jann Medlicott Acorn Prize winner Ingrid Horrocks.
Auckland skyline describing my body the day after dancing through the whole Split Enz concert.
It was one of my faves too. I only took a couple of short vids, this was one.
Just before setting off to see Split Enz tonight I found a couple of treasures from their 1993 concert in an old shoe box.
Guys I don't know why hundreds of thousands of us bothered writing submissions on the Regulatory Standards Bill because James Christmas, ACT candidate for Tāmaki, said it's just about our backyard property rights. Nothing to see here. 🙄
At a glance this looks like Seymour is wearing an ... "armband" and I wasn't phased or surprised because it's such a natural look for him.
Today PM Luxon said "we need to make sure we're not doing dumb stuff, for example, building back into flood plains." Yet earlier in the year, his corrupt fast track law approved exactly that. This will cost ALL Auckland ratepayers as the council now has to put into place unplanned flood mitigation.
This person is the PM's new communications adviser. Rachel Smalley, cruel and nasty, seems a good match for Luxon.
This is what money buys. Taxpayers Union has put together a fuel dashboard and paid for it to be the first option we see in Google. And after the first set of fuel data, we also "randomly" get presented with the govt debt clock 🙄. And lots of disclaimers about accuracy of the fuel data.
