Galaxy The Prettiest Star Jadzia Axelrod Read this a couple weeks ago. It’s very nice. Cool to see a trans story with trans authorship coming out of one of the big US comics publishers. Already picked up some of the later stuff the character appears in and the sequel.
How Do We Relationship? Tamifull Loved this. Characters feel very real and well explored. Conveys every heartbreak and celebration of their lives so well. Wonderful to read about adults in a realistic world with believable flaws and nuanced portrayal of their behavior/choices.
A Psalm For The Wild Built & A Prayer For The Crown Shy Becky Chambers Delightful novellas set in an optimistic future. A human&robot pair meet after years of robots, having gained consciousness and liberated themselves, living separately from humans. Together they interrogate many aspects of life.
Smash or Pass Birdie Schae Wanted a light lesbian romance that I could finish in a sitting or two and this filled that need. Very much a YA book. More about the MC, Ellie, learning to better understand her autism and unmask than the romance but the romance is there and the autism stuff is well done
Girlfriend Manual (season 1) Saefira I really liked this! Sometimes I feel like webtoons have pacing issues and especially big backstory stuff and some character development can zip by too fast but I didn’t have that issue with this one. Nice story, good characters, excited for season 2!
Untitled Flowers Isaka A trans woman and a cis woman who live together end up caring for the cis woman's niece. It's looking at womanhood from many different angles and is very promising. Seems it is going to be short, and only a few chapters are translated, so I hope it sticks the landing.
A Couple Drifting in the Wind By, Puebro Finally got around to starting this. Enjoying it so far. That centipede tattoo😳
Her Mountain, Her Ocean You Zuo Wenhua, He Huo, Fu Hua I quite liked this one. Two very different girls who've been abused find new family in each other.
Isso, Koi Dattara Yokatta no ni By, Rui Obata Not a lot to say. It was fine. A bit too short. Needed more fleshing out.
Hand Jumper sleepacross Kids with powers get drafted into a violent police corps to fight powered criminals. The MC is a nightmare mess constantly doing Light Yagami plans while everyone around her goes “what is wrong with you?” and she’s just like “I’m normal”. There’s even a 1% chance of yuri. 🐶♟️
Your Fascination, My Fear Kuzushiro Horror yuri one shot! Kuzushiro’s art is well suited to drawing horror. It looks great! We only get a glimpse at the characters. With more fleshing out I think the dynamic between the 2 leads would be interesting, but there’s no time to explore it in 1 chapter.
The Gal Who is Kind to Magical Girls By, Ironon If this doesn’t end up trans yuri I’m going to have a mental breakdown!! All the pieces are there!!! There is simply nothing heterosexual or cisgender about these first few chapters. I refuse to accept the possibility.
Unfortunately it’s this. We got no chapters for ages after this. Nightmare cliffhanger. One of the most memorable moments in the series for me. Saki at peak gay panic.
Our Love is Disgusting By, Usui Shio Was really going somewhere. Shame it got cut short. Still a good read and I can appreciate where it probably would have gone had it had another volume or two to earn something like the ending we get.
Zankou Saisatsu By, Wakadori Nikomi Only one chapter out so far but I’m sold! Photography yuri about a girl who sucks lol. Sleeps around with women because she thinks women in love make the best subjects for her photographs.
Sugar Girl Drip Ao Tsukinowa Overall my thoughts are positive and I quite liked it. Really strong beginning and some good characters. There’s some pacing weirdness halfway through to the end. Not sure if it was cancelled or just got away from the author? Regardless, this is still an excellent read!
A Joyful Life By, Gumdung Joy's journey trying to escape and heal from an abusive situation is well handled. I think Aerie's story needed a little more of something but it might have been the translation I read which I thought was a bit weak. Overall well told nice story.
The Ramparts of Ice By, Koucha Agasawa The Ramparts of Ice anime pretty quickly piqued my interest. I saw some unpleasant aspects of myself in Koyuki early on, so I gave the manga a shot. Very glad I did! Great story of learning to heal, understand yourself, and open up to others.
Quick catch-up. Couple new series. Only a few of chapters. Fancy Some Afternoon Tea? Under One Roof, My Impure Yet Wholehearted Life with My Senpai By, Aya Fumio "straight" girl x player lesbian roommates yuri You Started This, So You Better Finish It. By, Touma "straight" girl paid dating yuri
Regarding Saeki Sayaka Vol 3 Hitoma Iruma More to latch onto here than the previous volume but rushes through events too quickly. Characters carried over from the manga, including Sayaka, just don't feel quite right to me. I think I enjoyed this one the most? but I was still kinda let down.
Pink Candy Kiss Ami Uozumi Reread all of Pink Candy Kiss because I keep ADHD forgetting to keep up with chapter releases and losing track of things. Nothing to say about it that hasn't been said. Art is beautiful. Story is compelling. The girls are yearning. Excellent manga.
Regarding Saeki Sayaka Vol 2 Hitoma Iruma 1st chapter rushes through some of the events of the manga and the rest focuses on Sayaka in high school before the manga. I think it would have been better off recapping the manga from her perspective for it's whole length. What we got was sort of boring
Secrets of the Silent Witch Vol 1 Matsuri Isora I liked the anime last year and have since read the manga and am now starting to read the books. I just keep getting drawn to little Monica's story even though it's not that original nor is this book that well written to be honest but I had a fun time
An offering for the Wah! thread. From chapter 22 of Pink Candy Kiss.
Didn't We Say We'd Live Together If We're Alone at Thirty? by Kuzushiro (!) Only 1 translated chapter but promising start! Glad to see one about adult women and preparing for the painful relatability of their anxiety at entering your 30s without feeling like you’ve really had much of a life yet.
There is No Love Wishing Upon a Star By, Shinoa Absolutely adored this. Hurt to read every panel. Everyone in this is so pretty. Fuyuki you are Earth’s strongest yearner that’s why only you could be sent Eri. Short but everything moves at a low simmer. Bubbling away until it suddenly boils over
You’re not thinking too much of yourself. It’s this meme. Cisness was indoctrinated into them and they’ve never questioned that and people tend to, annoyingly, lean into “it’s not that deep” on stuff they’re ignorant about especially if it comes with the blindspots gender does for so many cis people
Going to be a perfect cold snowy night across much of the U.S. to watch one of my favorite movies: Moonlit Winter (2019). Just rewatched it a few weeks ago, but already thinking of rewatching again!
Lilies Bloom in 100 Days By, muromaki Not all of these is for me but that’s ok because there’s 100 different ones of them! All the artwork is great. Muromaki puts a lot of detail into the artwork on every page. Lots of fun and sweet stories crammed well into one page/panel each.
