Everyone has seen this by now, but this guy is so out of it that he forgets that Christianity’s beginning was one of bloodshed for their beliefs. If Pope Leo is truly committed to the teachings of Jesus, there’s nothing DJT can say or do on this earth to get him to stop from speaking out. 🧵

And yet somehow it never is a parody, right? He’s so out-of-sync with Church teachings. St. John XXIII’s speculation about nations’ progress has proved debatable, but this excerpt from “Pacem in terris” (1963) is pretty telling of just how far overboard Barron has gone in his views of women.

From the encyclical, Pacem in terris by Pope John XXIII:

41. Secondly, the part that women are now playing in political life is everywhere evident. This is a development that is perhaps of swifter growth among Christian nations, but it is also happening extensively, if more slowly, among nations that are heirs to different traditions and imbued with a different culture. Women are gaining an increasing awareness of their natural dignity. Far from being content with a purely passive role or allowing themselves to be regarded as a kind of instrument, they are demanding both in domestic and in public life the rights and duties which belong to them as human persons.

This is such a naive take. You really think we’re making art to keep institutions alive, feed people’s habits, or tow certain lines? Most of us went into the arts expecting to be kinda poor and unknown, but we really believe in what we do.

Things I’ve learned: the state parks near the national parks are usually equally worth visiting. Shenandoah River State Park. Protect all our beautiful park land.
