It’s hard to keep going when it feels like you’re on shifting sands. It’s hard to stay creative too when you’re attempting to pour from an empty cup. But I’ve a few projects in the works to share at some point. For now, it’s about resting and recovering somehow. 3/Fin.
I’m in the middle of a separation/divorce (which is thankfully amicable), but I have had to move home recently which has been a massive change as you’d expect, whilst also having to manage ADHD burnout/general decline in my overall physical and mental health, coupled with a change of medication. 2/~
So. I still take photos. Just about. A few projects in the works. A few irons in the fire. The little fire in my soul still just about there. 2026 has been rough, but I want to hope that things are on the up. 1/~ #FilmPhotography
Managed to get a wee busman’s holiday too in Peru with two amazing train journeys. 🚞 Firstly, the train from Lake Titicaca to Cusco; around ten hours of stunning scenery up and down through the Andes. Then a return trip from Cusco to Machu Picchu Pueblo/Aguas Calientes. 😍

As ever, I'm terrible at promoting my own work, but on the off-chance that anyone is in London next week, I have two pieces being exhibited in a group exhibition. 📍 Morning Lane Studio, London, E9 6ND 📅 Thu 27th Nov ⏰ 8PM - 10PM RSVP: partiful.com/e/NObR09kP7P... Cheers! #London #FilmPhotography
I'm still sad about what happened to the Whitechapel Bell Foundry. I visited the foundry back in 2016; I walked past it last month, and besides it looking very unloved and no longer a hive of activity, the site has stood still since operations ceased in the spring of 2017. #London #FilmPhotography
Last weekend, I met Kit Mackintosh. Sat at a typewriter in the middle of Covent Garden, he invited people to pay what they want for a poem on a topic of their choosing. I asked him to write a poem about overcoming sadness. www.version3point1.co.uk/blog/sadness #FilmPhotography #London #Poetry
Another shot that didn't make the cut for the recent exhibition; but it remains one of my favourites. Taken at Aldgate, I've always love the light there. 🎞️ Fuji Industrial 100, expired. 📸 Ricoh GR1V. 🧑🔬 Dev/scan by @analoguewonderland.bsky.social. #BelieveInFilm #FilmIsNotDead #FilmPhotography
‘Then and now: London's Transport in Photographs’ is on display at the London Transport Museum in Covent Garden. Thank you to the Museum curators and @analoguewonderland.bsky.social for the freedom to work exclusively with film for this exhibition. #FilmIsNotDead Press portrait ©️ Alick Cotterill
The irony of that last shot of TCR, when some of it currently looks like it’s suffering from water ingress, and there’s smashed glass panels and fittings across the network (Liverpool St is pretty bad for it).
Anyhow, this may or may not make the cut, but shot this one recently on a project roll. Modern life scene no. 19271. 🎞️ Fuji Pro 400H, expired. 📸 Bronica ETRSi. 🧑🔬 Dev/scan @analoguewonderland.bsky.social #BelieveInFilm #FilmIsNotDead #StayBrokeShootFilm #FilmPhotography
I've been loaned a Bronica ETRSi for the current assignment - a dream to shoot with. Here's one of my favourite shots from Baker Street. @lomography.com LomoChrome Color'92, box speed. Dev/scan @analoguewonderland.bsky.social. #FilmPhotography #BelieveInFilm #FilmIsNotDead #London #TfL25
The same roll, but the colours tweaked (very quickly) just to show how different it is when you remove some of the green colour cast. I am still learning about how some scanners can result in various colour shifts depending on the emulsion/film base, but sometimes the results are interesting.
Just some @cinestillfilm.bsky.social 800T (box speed), but without any post-lab scan colour correction. It really is a vibe, but do you tweak the colours or leave it? Dev/scan by @analoguewonderland.bsky.social. #BelieveInFilm #FilmPhotography #London
Ty. I did try it when it first launched on a half-frame camera, but I'm not sure where I went wrong with it as the results were too muddy for me (it definitely needs a lot of light). Some suggest shooting it at 100, so I think I'll give it another chance, but on 645 format next time around...
Anyhow, peeps. We've found a new favourite film in the form of Mr Negative 700S (shot at 400, on an old Agfa Optima 1535 Sensor rangefinder that I managed to break in about five minutes). All images dev/scanned by the amazing people at @analoguewonderland.bsky.social #BelieveInFilm #FilmIsNotDead
For what it's worth - the current transport purgatory that is Acton Town Station has no business looking this amazing in the (rare) afternoon winter sun (I'm actually offended, given the recent Uxbridge branch/rolling stock dramas). #London #FilmPhotography
Phoned up Service Controller to let him know for the next train in. Meanwhile, as I was on my way upstairs, he’s asked me to pop into the manager’s office to ask them to “secure” it… and ‘lo, some nylon rope and hazard tape later, it remained attached to its post. Hopefully will be fixed tonight.
Starting the new year as I mean to go on, with a run of 04:45 book-ons. 🤢 Dragging myself out of bed at some ungodly hour this morning wasn’t much fun, but someone has to do it. 😮💨 Same again tomorrow and on 1st Jan… 🥲 #MemeRailway #MetLineChronicles
A sedate Christmas/Boxing Day in Kent. In-laws recently moved to outside Canterbury, so our first Christmas there (& also walked off some of the seasonal excess in Ramsgate). As we float in the space between 25th Dec & NYE (where nobody knows what day it is); best wishes to you all for 2025. 💛
Patrick’s parents may have moved away from the 5 mins walk around the corner that we used to have, but the tradition of meeting his Marlow school friends in a wee Maidenhead pub still remains. This also includes our annual tradition of calling a friend all the way in Taiwan for Christmas carols..
Spent most of 24th trying to recover from mental whiplash of work, before our annual Craufurd Arms Christmas Eve in Berkshire. There wasn’t a Guinness shortage when I arrived; there may have been when I left 6 pints later. Annual Sticky Man game & my Simpsons Crimbo shoes also made an appearance.
Last night was ‘hump’ day (shift no. 4 in a run of 7) for me. Every day this week, something has happened on the #MemeRailway. _Shattered._ Yesterday my windscreen wiper jammed IN THE RAIN burning out the motor. No spare trains, so I had to sit around to get it fixed. #MetLineChronicles #Tubegeek
Husband surprised me with a trip to Copenhagen last weekend. 🇩🇰 It mostly rained, but we had a grand time. He booked a hotel room that overlooked the beautiful railway station 💛, and we even got to go to Malmö 🇸🇪 on the train!
Rounded off the working week with a job interview (ft. li’l yellow trains), a metal crab, and an edible snowman.
Our guy @mitchelmor.uk doing the Lord’s work this morning as I start another day on the #MemeRailway. Thank you, bro. 🙏 #MetLineChronicles #RailwayFamily
Meanwhile, the Evening Standard, which used to lambast us in print on a regular basis as part of their previously printed-daily life, has since been phased out to a weekly print edition. 😂 I am wondering if it might eventually be a paperless operation in time!
