Just another guy who likes to talk way too much about movies on the internet. 📺YouTube 🎬Letterboxd
Wayne's World was way ahead of it's time, in as much as a couple of guys from the Midwest can create a hugely popular show in their basement just being themselves that the corporate media can't reproduce because it lacks the authenticity to do so.
There's even a memorable/iconic scene in Dirty Harry involving a School Bus, The Joker's preferred mode of transportation throughout THE DARK KNIGHT.
Frank Miller was arguably the first, or the most obvious, creator to mix influences from Dirty Harry into Batman, but there's a lot of the Scorpio in Heath Ledger's version of The Joker. Based on the Zodiac killer, with the personality of Charles Manson, he enjoys playing twisted games with Harry.
Did you know on the original poster for "I Spit on your Grave" that's actually Demi Moore's butt. It was one of her early modeling gigs before becoming an actress.
You know, for all the shit everyone gave the Bane voice when the movie came out, it is memorable, and people still love to imitate it.
After watching JAWS last night before bed, I woke up in the mood for some more toothsome entertainment. Seriously, this movie fucking rips. If you've never seen it, I'd highly recommend it.
Watching this for the first time on the eve of the 250th with fireworks randomly exploding outside my window is certainly a vibe...
In order to get the vampire blood to react in sunlight, they mixed glitter into it. Meaning that it wasn't Twilight that invented sparkly vampires, but Joel "Batnips" Schumacher!
If they ever use the New Gods in this new DCU, I think he would be a perfect fit for Orion.
Fairly serviceable bit of action movie copaganda with strong mid-2000's vibes for added nostalgic value. Highlight being the showdown between Bullseye and Hawkeye in a trainyard during finale.
No flying cow! No Van Halen! No gravy! You call this a Twister movie!?
Since Rothschild Mansion, which was also the house used in EYES WIDE SHUT, is Wayne Manor in the Nolanverse, I'm gonna assume masked orgies...
If you're looking to make it a double feature night, it pairs quite well with...
I wonder if that spiked Volkswagon was an influence on Fury Road...
Minority Report, with it's themes of institutional corruption, the ethical dilemma of arresting people for crimes they haven't committed, and surveillance state totalitarianism is the most Carpenter film Spielberg has made, and Starman is basically Carpenter trying to make a Spielberg film.
Spielberg's more optimistic view on aliens is that a more advanced race can teach humanity, and help us evolve. And Carpenter's take is that, and as history has proven many times, a more technologically advanced race will almost always exploit and enslave another to it's own benefit.
