vimlena.com they/she bassist/guitarist (@celebrityduis.com) I love computers and typography. I am 30 or 40 years old and I do not need this.
Shout out to Pixies I usually only take selfies when I am dressed up and doing something but this is what I look like 90% of the time and it’s why I regularly get mistaken for being transmasc lol
the IBM Selectric is such a cool typewriter, their whole mechanism with the ball for how to handle mechanically printing proportional fonts without a complex linotype/monotype machine is clever. My coworker was using a Selectric II he brought from home, it was in v good shape and we chatted abt it.
Psycho Patrol R looking great so far. And by that I mean strange as fuck (positive). I loved Cruelty Squad and bought it almost as soon as it came out so I jumped on the early release of one too, really looking forward to see how it plays when complete. I love the mechs and the orgone.
Yeah it’s literally just this exact photo I’m sharing but instead of “you’re just 21” it’s “you’ve just been out for under 5 years” ad infinitum. The more things change, the more they stay the same with internet discourse. I rarely talk about the topic du jour bc I already talked about it 15 yrs ago
you’re all good lol they did absolutely do some fuck shit with DRM on CDs so I absolutely could see somebody saying something to that effect. There was also a boom in shovelware font and stock images/clipart CDs back then and I wouldn’t put it past those sketchy companies to bundle malware.
I know better than you ever idolize a famous male musician, but I do find J Mascis’ whole vibe fascinating. In every interview I've seen, he is extremely shy and quiet with very short responses. His singing is generally timid and indifferent, while also being one of the loudest guitarists around.
The Sun Microsystems logo is so cool dawg, I really love the 90s-00s design with the italic serif wordmark in particular. Have always wanted to get ahold of one of their SPARC workstations running Solaris. I love their wacky optical mouse with their weird aluminum mousepads.
Literally every single day of my life I think about Clarus the Dogcow, which is a bizarre shitpost cryptid Apple made up in the 80s about a silly glyph they had in their dingbat font on the original Macintosh.
While I understand why people don't care for labels like these, I think they are so funny even if they are stupid lmaooooo
Yeah (I made this in 2 minutes with my phone lol forgive the quality but I was inspired)
I have never really connected with Eva even after many rewatches because I just don’t really have feelings like any of the main characters (minus Rei, sort of). Like Kaworu exists for one episode iirc. Test link: www.idrlabs.com/neon-genesis...
This can really come down to the minutiae as well, like how to give somebody an option to go light/dark mode on their OS. Windows has light/dark and a custom mix of the two, GNOME has default and dark mode, and macOS has light/dark and auto-switching between them. Which is right? Which is expected?
Yeah! How exactly you do it will vary based on the platform/terminal you use, and very basic ones may not support changing it, but most modern ones do. I use the terminal Ghostty across Linux and macOS and I change it to the vertical bar by default.
So it seems like with the tint fully turned up on macOS 27 Golden Gate, it still reflects light in the background in areas that are not currently selected but is otherwise opaque. Look at the header bar of Preview here or the way that light moves when I move around the items in the Control Center.
