After the brutal Chicago storms yesterday there was a little cool air today. Seven miles at lunch break today to reach the 1,000 #RunningPunks miles milestone for 2026. (Seems like too much 🤣). Thanks for all the support and take care of yourselves.
Hey @andrear9md.bsky.social the latest New Venture was tonight’s Georgian Khachapuri (cheese bread). If margarita pizza and croque monster did the nasty this would be their love child. (Ew). Dough with cheese in the crust and center, which with the last minute egg added becomes a bread dipping zone.
If it’s a Saturday it’s AmeriPunks time for this #RunningPunks After solo warmup along the lake the route took us through #Chicagobotanic gardens and the giant reflective spheres. This bunch is the best. Christine (white visor) & I discovered we had the same socks. Small things.
Hey @andrear9md.bsky.social I haven’t done much noteworthy food prep lately but did today. Here’s a mushroom & tofu stir fry over udon, w baby bok choy garnish. Rice too. I knew the dishwasher was empty so I used a lotta pots. 🤣🤣 Sorry I didn’t show my work; I hope this doesn’t wreck my final grade.
Late posting of this morning’s #RunningPunks outing. Beat the heat and early morning work calls. Don’t let the 72° fool you; it was nowhere near that pleasant. Got a far-off glimpse of a young fox with something in its mouth. Happy hump day!
Gee-willackers I’m glad I got this done at zero-dark-whatever while it was 70-something. Now it’s 97° (that’s 36° C for the OG #RunninPunks 🤣) without a cloud to be seen. A family of a skunks was passing through my yard as tried to leave:I gave them all the space they needed.
Saturday morning #RunningPunks with the AmeriPunks today for a total of about nine miles. They’re the best. A stop at the shore of Lake Michigan for cooling and clowning. Humidity was just north of 80° when we started. Take care, everybody!
Early Friday solo jaunt but the #RunningPunks are always there. It was about today’s max without a partner to take my mind off the humidity. Take care, and TGIF.
Soaked in the Chicago Pride Parade. Great crowd. Found (most of) a British phone box for the #RuningPunks and had a little fun trolllng the homophobic gay-bashing Bible contingent.
Hey @andrear9md.bsky.social. Back in the kitchen. Focaccia dough made into one focaccia and one pizza. Garlic, rosemary, and olive oil on one; fresh mozzarella, garden basil, and homemade marinara for the other. A little dry but still in the ballpark.
You know the drive’s gonna be a banger when you have over 300 miles til the next turn. 🤪
Local newspaper has a very affectionate travel and tourism review of Cardiff, home of the #RunningPunks
North Shore Classic Half Marathon for #RunningPunks this morning. I really wasn’t feeling it on the way there or even through first three miles, but after that things fell my way. Survived the 60 ft climb at mile 7. Gratitude to the AmeriPunks & this whole event. It’s a nice one.
A dads singing ensemble I was part of at the high school has an important announcement to make.
An outing in the sun & heat over midday for about five #RunningPunks miles. Pretty much seals it that for the half marathon coming up Sunday I probably won’t run for time. Race includes a nice 60 ft climb around mile 8. A great event near me… like my home town race even though it’s two towns over.
A #RunningPunks launch into the 56° water of Lake Michigan with one of my kids followed by about 10k on foot in 82° or so sun. After the run I think I start to understand my Garmin’s training readiness rating of “1”. Take care, everybody.
Soldier Field 10 Miler today in Chicago. A really nice #RunningPunks event and great with the best company.
