And then there's his strange obsession with Shostakovich... and it's a little hard to parse, but perhaps a longing for the Old South...
The Trump administration's foreign policy making is so chaotic that Rubio doesn't even know what's happening. From today's Financial Times:
North Korea threatens U.S. allies, supplied Iran with weapons and technology for years, sends soldiers and weapons to Russia to help them invade Ukraine, and oppresses its people and routinely deprives them of even the basic necessities of life. North Korea is not our friend.
If you aren’t eating cucumbers with honey as the gods intended, are you really enjoying summer?
In which Boko Haram and ISWAP discover they are actually Communists…
Interestingly, @wsj.com did put this major Russian war crime on the front page, albeit as a more minor story than yesterday's White House UFC fight.
Russia hosts Kyiv's Lavra, a monastery older than Notre Dame, older than Moscow, and the center of Orthodoxy in Ukraine. Not front page news for @nytimes.com, @washingtonpost.com, @cnn.com, @theguardian.com.
I use them sometimes too, but in some regions, ADS-B exchange has much less coverage -- for example, in the Middle East (also Eastern Europe).
From what I'm reading online, apparently Iran Air has resumed hajj flights.
For funsies I look at FlightRadar24 now and then. It's a strange hobby, I know. I'm not sure what to make of this flight tonight: apparently an Iran Air flight, from Mashhad, heading somewhere... currently over Saudi Arabia.
The receipts... Paul Rubens' "The Consequences of War" from 1638/9 is too sexually explicit for Bluesky in 2026.
In case you’re curious what the TruthSocial bots think of pure idolatry:
At what point will the GOP admit that perhaps, just maybe, the President is not ok? It’s incoherent to claim Christian values as your own and tolerate this.
Casual threats of war crimes alongside childish taunts. Not normal. Not Presidential.
Well, clearly I'm in a bad mood tonight. I'm sorry, world. America has gone Godzilla and we're making a big, messy, pointless mess of things because we're big and mean and we can. Time to log off for awhile. Good night. May tomorrow be better, even a little.
Why does the President's son simp for Russia? Because it’s looking like yet another example of massive fraud perpetrated against the American people, and it definitely needs to be investigated.
À propos of Hegseth and Levitt and some other folks in this administration, I'm just gonna leave a little bit of Matthew 6 here:
Peace will not follow from handing more people and more land over to the aggressor, especially not if the "deal" is nothing more than a paper promise from an administration that has revealed its support for Russia in so many ways since getting into office. treaties.un.org/doc/Publicat...
Why now? The US/Israel war vs #Iran has made shipping through the #StraitofHormuz hard. Potash isn't directly affected, but urea (nitrogen) is. And US farmers need both. Lowering the cost of one input could offset the pain of the other's rising price./9 www.seatrade-maritime.com/security/fer...
Putin's "peace envoy" calls the UK and EU "warmongers," while his country continues to bomb Ukraine and Trump's special military operation against Iran enters week three.
