The Pfalz was really rocking tonight. Heavy metal covers at the Friedensdenkmal near Edenkoben
So incredibly dry this year in the Pfalz. The grapes are suffering. Deciduous trees are starting to shed leaves because of the heat. It could be Australia!
Yes, 5 days of 40+ degrees. That’s extreme, especially for Germany.
Only six days from receiving the citizenship papers to receiving my sparkly new Burgundy-colour passport. German bureaucracy is usually incredibly frustrating, but sometimes “it just works”.
Here you go @williamnb.eurosky.social, the new bike. Still needs a lot of adjustments, but rolls really well so far. Absolutely needs better tyres and longer cranks, but I can do that later.
Day 9 of the trip. Currently about 15km from Trento in the Südtirol Weinstraße region. Will definitely try some of the local wine later once it cools down a bit. Two more cycling days to Verona.
The “Tower in the Reschensee” on the Via Claudia Augusta cycle track.
Life is good! Just leaving Lermoos and heading for the Fernpaß. Stunning scenery and quite a lot of hills too… #Surlybikes
Currently close to Füssen and the climb towards the Fern Pass starts tomorrow. Stunning weather for cycling!
Taking the Surly’s for a two-week camping trip to Italy on the Via Claudia Augusta. (www.viaclaudia.org/radtour/rad-...) This photo is at the Lautersee about 15km south of Augsburg. This is the flat bit of the route, the climbing starts on Tuesday.
A few short weeks ago I would have assumed a threat of WWIII by the US president was misinformation and just false news posted by Trolls. What a bloody mess the US and Israel are making for the rest of us.
A rather creative recruitment campaign by the German intelligence services.
It’s a very nice Ruhetag in the Pfalz too. I’m not being nearly as creative as you, but I’m nevertheless enjoying every minute of a nice warm Sunday afternoon complemented by a nice cold Belgian beer.
To think that people walked here more than 50 years ago. We have lost so much since then.
A very well poured Hefeweizen on a beautiful sunny Sunday at the Marktplaats in Neustadt a/d Weinstrasse.
A suitable stopping place for my home-brew electric Frankenbike. Surly LHT with alternative disk frontend, Kermit green paint and a Bafang mid-motor conversion. Despite being a huge mashup, it’s been totally reliable for 1000s of km.
The almonds are flowering big-time now. Living in the Pfalz is good
Spring and 17C here in the Pfalz today. Absolutely stunning weather and at the weekend too!
Another beautiful day for cycling in the Pfalz. Spring is definitely here, blossoms on the trees, birds are singing, life is good.
Cargo bikes are awesome! Perfect for doing a full weekly shop without using a car. Gets a lot of attention wherever it goes. #cargobikes
