Two nights in the @w-u-r.bsky.social campus: a partial overlay of the moths (and other insects) automatically attracted and photographed using @dinalab.bsky.social 's Open Hardware Mothbox. This is how you measure #biodiversity :)
that one was done by hand. Now I wrote a small script for making it automatically. those are the overlays from other nights:
And an overlay of most of the insects photographed yesterday night between 22.00 and 00.00. @dinalab.bsky.social (somehow still didn't manage to record between 00.00 and 01.00)
all right, getting there :) one night experiment, two mothbox, left in a "urban" area, the right in a forest. but I think I need to use only the uv light.
Godspeed little viper. Hope I’ll find you back tomorrow morning :D
Better on the second night (and I build another one). Tonight will try to find a spot in a forest :) @dinalab.bsky.social
So the first night it had some problem with the camera. The second night worked properly in the shed. Added some proper gaskets today and will be a real outdoor test.
All right, ready to first tests. But forgot how annoying is to solder on aluminium…. (Did a mistake in ordering the pcb)
Still waiting for some parts, but so far so good. I’ve used a cheaper battery and the standard 12mpx camera (I redesigned the case)
Between the super intensive Dutch farming near #Wageningen, there is a safe heaven for wild life: mooi Binnenveld. Plenty of birds ….
Main PCB and all the laser cut done. Waiting for the attractors PCBs (will need to hand solder something on there), and still scouting for a battery. Then I should have everything.
Parts starts coming in, PCBs ordered, the 3D printer up and running: It’s mothbox replication time!!! @dinalab.bsky.social
