Let’s be clear about something: COVID-19 vaccines saved millions of lives. It is deeply cynical, corrupt, and frankly immoral to fearmonger about them. The biggest scandal of my lifetime is the right-wing war on public health because pandemic control efforts cut into corporate quarterly profits.
The Democrats’ 2024 post mortem report notes the failure of the party under Obama to invest in state races in 2010, giving the GOP dominance in redistricting. It notes how this gerrymandering made them less competitive in general. This is why I was so focused on the census-year 2020 race in 2016.
Ivermectin is being advertised on CNN’s website right now. The pop-up is from a company called All Family Pharmacy, which hawks drugs like ivermectin and hydroxychloroquine. It has become a staple on the right, teaming up with folks like Riley Gaines and Donald Trump Jr.
It just speaks to the need for better Democrats. Biden was never a fighter. I mean, I called it back in 2019–and was by no means alone. We need the next administration to be the best, most aggressive public health presidency in history. So we need to identify who the fighters are—and aren’t.

You know what? No notes, Jay. I don’t doubt he believes this. Bhattacharya didn’t embrace anti-vax nonsense until it served his political, anti-public agenda. That said, he really did he embrace that world. Still, he has tended to fall back on sorta defending the MMR to appear more credible.
