George Wallace

An old lawyer in love with new music, among other things. Snappy patter & wordplay a subspecialty. Not one of those George Wallaces you may have heard of. Mostly harmless. Neither mod nor rocker. A melancholy long withdrawing roar.
July 4, 1986, in L.A. was not unusually hot (≈80° F) but the air was grainy without the aid of fireworks. 'Labyrinth' opened in the US 6 days before, and I watched it for the first time that afternoon in a nearly empty theater in the San Fernando Valley. May it never be consigned to the oubliette.
[T]he expensive delicate ship that must have seen Something amazing, a boy falling out of the sky, Had somewhere to get to and sailed calmly on. -- W.H. Auden, "Hydration Break" (1938)
Can Heironymus Merkin Ever Forget Mercy Humppe and Find True Happiness?
Last scene of all, That ends this strange eventful history, Is second childishness and mere oblivion; Sans teeth, sans eyes, sans taste, sans everything.
"Many people don’t know, or assume, that DUMB ends in 'b'" He just found out, didn't he?
Renewed our National Parks pass today, and it comes now with that dreary glowering Trump picture he favors, and it made me think of Zohran Mamdani, and how Zohran Mamdani is rarely seen not smiling. Even deceased G. Washington seems more jovial than Trump. SO LIVE A LITTLE TRUMP HONEY: SMILE MORE!
Woodpecker Wednesday, eh? Here's a sporty redheaded number spotted at Devil's Tower, Wyoming, over the weekend. The Tower tried to photobomb from behind, but it's too large to fit itself into the frame.

"Contrary to rumor, The Musicians of Auschwitz will also not be performing at the 'Great American State Fair.'"
This talk of Tangled Up in Blue set me to looking up Kevin Odegard, who is known almost exclusively for playing the lead guitar part - and suggesting a critical key and tempo change to Dylan - on that song. His Wikipedia entry is just too much fun, and Odegard himself seems to be a real mensch.
