The phrase on it makes it kinda weird. Prefer the 1976 Bicentennial one. Also disappointed we didn’t get fire hydrants painted as Founding Fathers. That was a highlight of ‘76.
One of the girls on my XC team buck their water bottles in my truck and told me, “Safety First, Always.” I’m meeting them at points on their run with their water, because it’s hotter than a crematorium in S.C.
RIP Pat Oliphant - His political cartoons were caught my attention as kid and got to pay attention to the editorial page of a newspaper. Finding Punk and his wisecracks in them became a game for me.
In ‘15 we there. I had climbed up on a rock to get better angle for pics of this herd on the opposite of the road. This cow & calf decided to cross the road separating me from my wife & daughter. I was pretty far away, but it was still unnerving not knowing when I could get by safely.
Home from camping at Edisto. My god it’s hot here in the Upstate. Finished another Ron Rash novel. Stopped for peaches coming through Edgefield on the way across S.C.
Probably just myself on FBI watch list. I vote Democratic in SC & I just checked out 4 books on John Wilkes Booth. I’m taking a recertification class on Lincoln. Came across the street for a beverage just in case we get raided tonight.
Voted in the S.C. Democratic primary. Got to listen to a guy argue he should be to vote in both primaries. Pretty sure he didn’t do well in Government when he took it in high school. Picture him as one of the “when am I ever going to use this stuff” kind of a guy in my class.
George Strait concert is 20 miles from my house tonight and I keep seeing pics people are posting on Facebook of the stage. I wonder how many realize what it resembles?
My Boys Track team won our Region by one point. Coming in, I thought we’d lose by 40-50 points. There were at 10 times where we beat the team that finished runner-up. Had to have all 10 or we lose. Probably should’ve bought a lottery ticket Thursday with the luck I was having.
Javelin thrower grabbed 5th place at the Wavelight All American Track Classic. Only Class A kid in the field. Celebrated at Rush’s with a Chili Cheeseburger.
Voted in our municipal election. The one election I usually have a decent choice for candidates. My only gripe is have some at-large seats. There is one subdivision that has 3 city council members living in it. Had two former students running for office & already have former one on there.
Camping this weekend at Sadlers Creek State Park. There is no creek in the park by the way.
In town for my daughter’s birthday & got to see my former runner from my track team now running for Davidson College win the Mile in the Davidson Relays with a school record time.
This used to be where Mama Penn’s Restaurant is. When you went to Concord Elementary in the ‘70s they would walk us up the last week of school to the Coble dairy plant. At the end of the tour, we got ice cream.
When your wife has you on the schedule to usher at church, but you are patriotic 🏒 fan who has been waiting for 46 years to see Team USA win gold again at the Olympics. Did not yell in the narthex when the winning goal was scored, but I was jumping up & down. 🇺🇸🥇
