He kept insisting on defending use of the term to me, talking down to me, insisting that using the term “mining” in relation to a data center computer doing math algorithm numbers made sense, but the word “printing” didn’t make sense in relation to currency! As if nobody ever used the word “printing money” in the newspaper before ever. It was truly astounding how he seemed to have no sense of how ridiculous this argument sounded. Chloe Humbert

My letter to reps in the house and senate:

You must act. Impeach and remove U.S. Energy Secretary Chris Wright! It’s an abomination that he is saying he’s going to roll over people who oppose data centers in our community! This is an attack on freedom of speech, property rights, and everything good and decent in America. Chris Wright has no place in our government, and data centers don’t belong anywhere near our neighborhoods.

This is a very strange headline because this reporter is conflating unions with being Dems and then asserting that Democrats are backing a Republican, when that’s not how unions work (or Democrats for that matter). Is this reporter ignorant or doing this as political propaganda for Rob Bresnahan?

State leaders behind data-center push
Editor: Gov. Josh Shapiro’s remarks were far too vague regarding the data centers planned in Archbald. The governor’s stubborn condition seems linked to him being on the board of Team Pennsylvania Foundation, which is partnered and fiscally sponsors the industry-led group AI Strike Team, which describes itself as advancing the AI industry. Team PA Foundation has a “public private partnership” and a long list of business people on the board. Top state agency leaders are also on the board, including the secretaries of the DEP, the Department of Education, Agriculture, Labor & Industry, and the DCED, along with elected state representatives Rep. Kyle Mullins, Sen. Amanda Cappelletti and Sen. Devlin Robinson.

How could any of these people be trusted to regulate the industry while simultaneously acting in capacity with this organization that exists to facilitate industry? The Right to Know request emails reported in Will Bunch’s column in The Philadelphia Inquirer have revealed various Pennsylvania government officials acting as a concierge to Amazon. Every bill those lawmakers advance related to AI and data centers must be suspected of being written by AI Strike Team, including one Kyle Mullins is expected to introduce to “codify GRID.”

Focus on the electric grid appears to be a decoy. U.S. Rep. Rob Bresnahan was pushing the idea that data center power demand will magically “unleash” affordability, when that doesn’t make sense. I know that “bringing their own power” means data centers with gas plants and diesel turbines right in neighborhoods in our valley, unleashing various and sundry pollution. All these officials must choose a side and step down from one or the other, because it’s a conflict of interest. They can’t stand on both sides and fully serve we the people.

They blamed AI for charging my insurance and me for a "hallucinated" doctors visit that never happened. Do we think really this isn't happening to other patients or that it's always being caught? There are totally going to be fraud cases where they get away with it by blaming the AI in EPIC.

The specifications say something different: Five developers are planning to build six data center campuses in Archbald, which will cover a full 14% of the town, evict a trailer park, and border many residential properties. One campus alone, as the Scranton Times-Tribune reporter Frank Lefneskey pointed out, is expected to use more power than the region’s largest power plant is able to produce.

Pennsylvania has become an epicenter of the data center boom in the United States, with over 50 campuses in development. Eleven of them are slated for Lackawanna County alone. Archbald, with six campuses composed of 51 massive buildings, has the most of any municipality in the state.

The people in power are going to endlessly try to trick us nevertheless about what the purpose of business is, and what we should think it is. But when they think nobody’s listening, they do say what’s up. I took the time to listen to this controversial talk given by billionaire tech tycoon Eric Schmidt. And just in case it wasn’t terribly obvious by now that “we’re giving you jobs” trickle down economics is not only pseudoscience, and not just insulting to our actual experience, but an actual trick – Well, here’s a tech tycoon basically spelling it out in a talk he didn’t realize was being recorded, describing how the CHIPS ACT was something AI tech tycoons essentially lobbied for, and that’s why this economic package passed.

A data center developer must demonstrate that proposed projects provide value to local communities, mitigate or offset impacts on Pennsylvanians, and are developed responsibly.

They don't go on open twitter and reddit in mixed company and use that for strategizing or expressing their inner most deepest feelings, nor do they often even expose themselves to their opposition’s narratives. They’re not interested in “the discourse” — they see the open internet as a battlefield - and that’s exactly what it is - cognitive warfare. So they go on twitter or facebook to drop the message bombs and all the garbage they want YOU to see, all the nasty bullying they want YOU to experience, and then go back to their safe spaces for rallying, reinforcement, hope, and support.

Their safe spaces are perceived by them as supportive, positive, upbeat, and friendly.

This is making the rounds, but I want to warn that you don't even need to see these, just ask your local officials about data centers planned, because I never saw a helicopter with this, and I'm always watching aircraft, and yet there are something like 70+ data centers planned just in my county now

People are now reporting lots of dead animals around this area in Archbald Pennsylvania where the forest got clearcut in advance of a data center that hasn't even been approved yet. Porcupines, foxes, even a bear. "once the trees are gone, they're gone"
