The cost of this war cannot be measured only in missiles launched or targets destroyed. It must also be measured in credibility squandered, diplomacy abandoned, civilians displaced, children buried, economies shattered, alliances strained, and opportunities for peace repeatedly sacrificed at the altar of political theater. History has never been particularly kind to leaders who mistake bravado for strategy. It is even less forgiving toward those who mistake the deaths of children for collateral damage.
