It's always exciting to watch my secret second husband narrate the primary election returns on his Kornacki Cam. Explaining a state's electoral history! Crunching voting data on the fly! Parsing the granular details of demographics, county by county and district by district! DAMN I love a hot wonk.
The vibes feel impeccable here at the Obama Presidential Center. Before the grand opening ceremony begins, the warmup playlist takes the crowd on a fun journey: Talking Heads, “Once in a Lifetime”; Bill Withers, “Lovely Day”; Bad Bunny, “Nuevayol”; Beyoncé, “Texas Hold ’Em.”
We don’t usually see each other’s headers. Here’s mine: David Lynch, photographed in Chicago 20 years ago, underneath the Belmont el tracks. I interviewed him while he was in town doing press for “Inland Empire.” Quote-skeet with your header (if you feel like it)
Incredible work from photographer Nicole Hester of the Tennessean: Attempting to attend a Senate Committee meeting about redistricting affecting his own city, state Rep. Justin Pearson is denied entry by the Sergeant at Arms, May 6, 2026.
I scrolled quite a ways and didn’t see this. I’m sure someone has posted it but honestly it should be Top Five.
Still thinking about last week’s Survivor episode, the Zac Brown debacle, and Dee’s hilarious reaction. #Survivor50
Always a great reminder. Also, I believe this is something written/said by Dan Savage in the context of the MAGA era. Whether one likes Dan Savage or not, his full quote is worth citing for its reminder to keep hoping, fighting, and dancing:
This past week, I visited St. Raymond of Peñafort Catholic Church. (The suburban church hosted the funeral for a beloved 95-year-old, who passed peacefully in her sleep.) I don’t know when it was constructed — the ’60s? early ’70s? — but its relatively modern stained-glass windows are true stunners.
I just scrolled down two posts from yours to find this one. Seems like Grindr users ought to send this asshat CEO a few thousand news links.
Autumn is the best! Here’s one of my favorite trees here in Rogers Park, just steps away from Lake Michigan.
Enjoyed some lovely public art along/near The 606 in Chicago on Sunday. This city remains glorious and its people joyous.
Death on the Nile has its flaws, but I’ll always love it for the killer cast (on location in Egypt!). Angela Lansbury deserved an Oscar nom for her hilarious scenery chewing as the alcoholic romance novelist: “Barman! This crocodile has lost its croc!”
My obscure thirst trap player, who’s got the potential to be a smart strategist on his second chance — he’s certainly got unfinished business: Reynold from FvF2. #survivor50
