For those of us in the US, this figure hits hard. Institutional autonomy is closely related to academic freedom, arguably a necessary condition for it. Autonomy took a nosedive from 2022-2025. That nosedive has only accelerated in past 6 months. See Fig 6 in report linked in @mclem.org's post.
