Today's #diecast is what made me commit to me collecting guidelines. I got this Hot Wheels Porsche 911 Carrera T because I didn't have any cars with me to post. So, while this is a new 2026 casting, I already had one! One that I'm already giving away because it's a post-1999 model. Now I've got two.
There's also Drilliam. But, that doesn't matter. I checked out the price tag and this team will blow away my budget for a couple of months.
Damn it. There are two more. I mean, I have to get five to make a Devastator style mega Truckasaurus. I'm not just being a completionist
It is one of the more unique castings and an example of why i appreciate fantasy castings in the #HotWheels mainline. There's been almost a dozen different colorways, including a 2021 Hot Wheels id release. But, my favorite is the 2021 metalflake dark grey version.
The Speed Dozer is such a weirdly cool casting! I converted one for a friend and it remains one of my favorite projects to have done.
Hou Ma (The Fire Horse) was the third character I created in #CoH. She was modeled after my daughter, who was born in the year of the Fire Horse. She started out as a naive, new hero, but eventually got retconned into a fierce warrior with a haughty imperious attitude, not unlike Azula.
Absolute super #diecast score last night! The Red Editions and Amaru TH will go to my nephew. I kept the Starion and Lil'Mad, but should have also kept the Supra and GSX. I'm trying to pick up only new castings from current releases. I can always hunt previously released castings at the meet.
Another try at something different. I deleted the tampos from these X-Raycers and painted their interior in bright silver to help them pop. I also bedazzled the cars with diamond dots. I'll use translucent beads as weapon mounts and paint guns in bright silver. Not ready to call this a failure.
Tonight's hobby project is an unsuccessful black on black paintjob. These cars are sprayed with gloss black and handpainted matte black on the hood. Besides the obvious brush strokes, you can't see the difference. Gonna try a matte varnish, but these will probably go into the stripper
With the main fleets all sorted, I spent some hobby time repairing #PiratesCSG ships in dry dock. Also sorted out some built duplicates, ships with missing parts and strangely, ships without deck cards.
We have company this weekend so I have limited access to the hobby desk. It's far too hot to spray prime. So, I spent my hobby time stripping, sanding and sanding and sanding and polishing some #diecast. The HW Sentinel 400 and the Maisto Lamborghini Diablo and Ferrari Testarosa are so shiny now!
Finally got all the tampo off with no discoloration of the original paint. All I had to do was strip everything off.
After sleeping on it, I figured out to use all of the bits in the Starter Kits. Toothpicks points on the bash bar. Craft sticks as heavy reinforced bumpers. Packaging strap as rear window armor. Zip tie clip and wire as fuel line. This exercise made me realize I need more details to my builds.
Built a "demo car" to show how the parts I included in the Starter Kits can be used. I used as many different bits as I could, paperclip bash bar, zip tie window armor, cotton swab exhaust pipes, foil hood armor, pencil ferrule fuel tank with wire support frame. The weapon is from a dollar store toy
Got in another zombie bash for the first session of what will hopefully be a regular game night. Half the table were new players. Next session, we'll do full rules Highlight of the game was this head-on collision between me and my friend.
While not as dramatic as the neon paintjob, I'm still very happy with the monotone metal. It's good to have a couple of schemes that are super easy to apply. It makes creating replacements for the #Gaslands Open a relatively easy process. These just have some black lining, shading and dusting.
