When I was a kid, my older brother had this wastebasket in his bedroom.

A brown wastebasket. At the top are the words "PRESIDENTS OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" and the Seal of the President. There are black & white headshots (or paintings) of various presidents, with their names and dates of office. Pride of place, in the center with the largest picture, was the then-current president, Richard M. Nixon, whose date was just "1969" because at the time he was still in office.

I wouldn't call it "ugly," but the extremely utilitarian-looking tower built on to the UNC-Greensboro library in the 70s stood out quite a bit from the mostly-brick architecture of the rest of the main campus buildings.
