Proud Democrat. Work in and around film and theater. Robert Benchley fan, and a mom to one human and two cats. And a knitter. Yes to Oxford commas! No DMs.
The conversation we should be having is how “AIPAC” has become to the so-called left what “George Soros” is to the right. Haley Stevens is against Netanyahu & supports Palestinians. Israel has the right to exist even w/ a reprehensible government that needs to be voted out - just like the U.S.
Just so we’re clear: When the DNC reminds ppl that it’s important to do whatever we can - no matter how small - to elect Dems who will put a stop to Trump & the GOP’s unchecked power is “fascism”? Does the DSA believe change will happen if we all just wish really hard? WTF?
Gretchen Whitmer got benefits for Michigan when she met with Trump. Mamdani gave Trump a photo op & got nothing in return for NYC. Which is the perfect metaphor for DSA versus Democratic leadership: Dems do the hard work to deliver substantial results, DSA delivers photo ops.
I’m disappointed but not surprised. The DSA clearly doesn’t care about respecting poc, women, & LGBTQs, & apparently neither Mandami. I would really like to know if he also continues to support the DSA given their latest platform:
This is exactly the way poc become invisible. Mamdani’s candidates in Bklyn voted out sitting Dem Reps bc his support is college-educated white ppl. They are gentrifying neighborhoods, pushing out working class ppl & poc & voting out their leaders. The Dem Party base is still poc.
Hey Sydney, read the article rather than just posting a misleading headline. Palestinians have to deal w/ facts on the ground created by “progressives” who put Trump in office by not voting or Kamala. And unlike “progressives,” Hillary is about problem solving, not just posturing.
He even started the thread saying ppl “should feel free to launch any criticisms…” It’s infuriating that “progressives” who have a litany of reasons to reject “establishment Dems” are freaking out about “purity tests” for their straight, white guy candidate. It says everything about them.
If by “further left” you mean politicians like Bernie Sanders who insisted on endorsing an anti-reproductive rights candidate, or Graham Platner who opposes an assault weapons ban & is still “genuinely curious” why “Black ppl don’t tip,” the answer is no.
Here is a list of things Dems did when they controlled the House, Senate, White House that so-called “progressives” tried to undermine. It includes funding the Capitol Police after January 6.
Fact check: Bernie Sanders voted against both Magnitsky Acts that imposed sanctions on Russian oligarchs. So when Congress took action against oligarchs, Sanders didn’t. Meanwhile, he’s became a multimillionaire attacking, first millionaires, then billionaires, & now oligarchs.
The Squad voted against Biden & with the GOP more than either Manchin or Sinema. Maybe voters should stop allowing them to do it.
Fun fact: Members of “The Squad” voted w/ the GOP more than either Manchin or Sinema. Some of their votes: - Against the Clean Energy, Jobs & Innovation Act - Against funding the Capitol Police after January 6. - Against the Infrastructure Investment & Jobs Act
James Talarico is a Dem primary candidate whose opponent is Jasmine Crockett. If the FCC ruling is equal time, why didn’t @colbertlateshow.bsky.social just invite Jasmine Crockett on the show?

I have no words for the anger I feel toward those who bashed Dems or didn’t vote for Hillary or Kamala bc of “corporate money” or “genocide.” Their reasons are MacGuffins; they’ll find new ones by 2028. And now they’re the ones yelling that Dems can’t get us out of the mess they created.
@wildstarryskies.bsky.social: Just head’s up that HeyBruce apparently went into your Follows & @ me. I usually mute ppl rather than block them, but this is particularly disrespectful.
This is what @hakeemjefferson.bsky.social said in response to a CNN interviewer asking if he’ll give Trump credit for fewer boarder crossings. Jeffries implied that the current reduction is due to Biden policies that are now coming to fruition.
Governor Kotek is speaking out. Voters have a duty to find out what their leaders are doing & saying.
