It's done! Finished up painting and applied a clear coat spray, and finally glued on the clear plastic covers! (made from a cut up mtn dew bottle) It's super fun to pose 😭 its just a little me and I love him. Next I'll be making a few more face screens to swap between and take more fun pictures 😁
Custom fig update! Markered in some details. Hands need a bit more work, and of course need to finish the tail (will be using a real usb! easy peasy) Last part of the assembly will be the clear green covers for the teal parts, excited to show those when the time is right!
Facelift! New meta is painting all pink and then masking out the face details to then spraypaint with blue. still required a bit of cleanup on the edges. It still isnt perfect, but it's better! Magenta is famously hard to replicate with paints so this pink shade feels off to me, but its close enough
Progress update: did some painting! We arent quite done but the end is in sight. Love how smooth everything turned out (hands still WIP), tho the face was such a pain to paint and get the details to feel crisp but its not quite clean enough for my taste, will need to try something else...
Just look at them beefy arms! I used perler beads to thicken these robo tubes up
They look pretty cool in this midway version as well! This concept was working so well that I went out to my car and popped off 2 more of the little screw caps to use. These look sick in that chrome color, sorry to say that I will end up painting these white; at least they will look smooth af 😋
I've been a fan of these offbrand articulated minifigs for a while, and I realized the legs have just the right kind of joint I'd need. I also had these little caps that fell off of the license plate holder on my car just sitting on my desk for the longest time, also perfect size and shape...
Made some awesome poseable mice hands for my custom Click figure 😱 I wasn't originally planning on making the hands articulated but I had a brain blast realizing I could combine some stuff I had just lying around on my desk, follow along in the thread to see...
Some beautiful faceplates (post sanding)! These need to all have the same footprint which was a challenge. Had to create a mold to get a good base, then sanded them. These have a magnet embedded so it can snap onto the face (I put one in wrong way and had to pry it out, ended up cracking the piece🥲)
Have to use airdry clay, baking clay with legos inside probably would damage or weaken the joints. Its not the easiest to work with and hard to get a super smooth surface. Will need to sand and do some extra clay detailing down the line.
Started out with a sturdy lego skeleton. These lego ball joints are very sturdy and reliable. Then I taped the shit out of it to get the basic form to later cover in clay

feels like at some point I could have saved time and found a decent free rigged wooden mannequin thingy online but apparently everything needs to be like $50 nowadays. I couldn't justify spending money for something i will probably only use once so I made my own
Been working on my longish digital circus animation on/off for about 3 weeks at this point. Have around 1:45 of animation but finishing it might be a little more ambitious than i anticipated. Its been sloppily improvised from the start, was more fun to jump into it without a real plan i guess
