I feel like Herb Alpert is being unfairly maligned here, but can I make defending him punk rock by posting a ticket stub from when I saw the Ramones in the late 80s? Does my having tinnitus since that show put an element of punk rock in everything I do if I still have that ringing in my ears?

4K in system, almost all Imperium, means there is a non-zero chance WinterCo might look at the numbers and decide not to contest. Things go sideways beyond the 6K mark, at which point they would be down 2:1 in the odds.

I do wonder about the effectiveness of an emergency alert that comes a good minute after the earthquake has already woken me up. But it was loud... also, we have four cell phones in the house... and it did at least confirm my "was that an earthquake?" question.

Probably the most expensive diesel in the US, at that one station we all know on Interstate 5 near Avenal that is always much higher than anywhere else. $6.79 was the cash discount price, it was $7.09 at the pump.

Elijah Stephens (also spelled Stevens because spelling things was pretty ah hoc back then) who settled in Cupertino in 1848. Stevens Creek (the actual bit of running water) and Stevens Creek Blvd. are both named after him. H later left Cupertino, ending up in Bakersfield, where he died, cursing the place so we all die a bit when we travel there now.
