William Meikle
@williammeikle
Wee sweary Scottish writer, living in Canada, with 30+ novels and 300+ short stories in genre presses over the past 30+ years. Mostly at williammeikle.com ... mostly.
Another me, aged 29 in 1987, working for a software house in Central London, building boring systems for big banks and insurance companies. Already going bald, smoking too much, and mostly drunk.
Me, 1975, aged 17, just before leaving secondary school to go to Glasgow Uni. One of the last times I was unbearded.
Last chance today to pick up Free and discounted William Meikle ebooks at the Smashwords Summer Sale www.smashwords.com/profile/view...
The CHAPBOOK COLLECTION is a set of chapbooks featuring my short stories and novellas, all at 99c on Kindle, and is kind of a historical archive of my writing over the past 30+ years. Something here for everybody... mybook.to/hsi
My writing view today out the front window.... Been a day of fog on the bay... mostly thicker than in this photie, but I like the 'creeping into the bay' effect of this one...
Post a perfect album for the 90s that isn’t Nirvana Soundgarden, Pearl Jam or Alice In Chains
Look like BluSky is struggling with image loading... let's try this...
Over the past 30+ years I've sold a lot of fiction to online markets. A bit sad to find on cleaning up my links that a lot of them have gone dark...but there's some still trucking on to. Here's some tidied up free stuff to read and listen to if you're interested www.williammeikle.com/freebies.html
Got asked what I think is my best short story. Can't pick one ( out of over 300! ), but if you put a gun to my head I'd say it would be something from THE GHOST CLUB
Will be ten years soon since I started on the S-Squad. Would never have known then that a wee pulpy creature feature thing would end up growing into the most sucessfull chunk of work of what passes for a writing career, be still going 19 books later, and make me bags of cash too...
My shorter SIGILS & TOTEMS mythos fiction now has its own series page on Amazon for the chapbooks ( for anyone who fancies a one-click gets all purchase :-) ) mybook.to/8xHnv
THE LONDON TERRORS, my collected weird Sherlock Holmes fiction, are now all available in matching hardcover editions on Amazon. Cover art my M Wayne Miller. www.amazon.com/dp/B09J315WN...
Was asked what 35 years of writing looked like. Here it is. The top 4 shelves on the left are my longer works, i.e. novels, novellas and collections both in paperback and hardback. The rest is anthologies containing my stories, well over 100 of them
Reverted to the Wayne Miller covers for my Professor Challenger pastiches... makes a better match with the Holmes ones and just looks much better than anything else I came up with... I was so lucky to get the approval of the Conan Doyle estate to do these books. They've since trademarked Challenger.
I went for a second opinion. The wee sweary Scottish puffin says...
THIS IS WHO RUNS THIS ACCOUNT ( Me, aged 4, Kilbirnie Public Park, Scotland 1962. )
19 years ago today. Not so good weather as earlier in the week, but a glorious view from the Jasper Tramway station. Another good day ( and met a man who knew my dad in a bar there later, so a weird day too...)
As mentioned in the Gram Parsons song... the blue Canadian Rockies, by the banks of Lake Louise. Taken from the Lake Louise cable car. 19 years ago today... another good day.
Photo taken 19 years ago today from the cable station above Banff... that was a good day. "Mountains, Gandalf!"
My SHERLOCK HOLMES: THE LONDON TERRORS books are all now live in paperback on Barnes and Noble www.barnesandnoble.com/s/%22Sherloc... ( Ebooks to follow as they fall out of Kindle Unlimited exclusivity )
Feast your eyes on this wee beauty... all 3 hardcover editions are sold out but there are still signed, illustrated paperbacks available for just $12.95 from Weird House Press weirdhousepress.com/products/hau... Cover and interior illos by M Wayne Miller
Drop an album that was important to you when you were 19. Got this in '77 and still listen to it now. A seminal album, especially the title track
