Haha Yeah, it was all Carville. He's big into the whole "ragin' cajun" brand and Fat Tuesday was coming up. He really wanted only LSU colors but, unsurprisingly, the bead supply in NH was limited. (Sadly, I have no picture of the beads)

Earlier this week, I shared the story about Liam Ramos with my mother (who is originally from MN) to see if it could break through the maga brainwashing. She said she would have to fact check it and never got back to me. Today, my brother and I sent her this email...

Mom,

We had hoped we wouldn't need to write this message, but after your disappointing response to the situation in Minnesota, now feel morally compelled to do so. While we know you have a very different view of the world and our political situation, we thought, perhaps naively, that we still valued human life, dignity, and freedom in the same way. Unfortunately, your tepid response to the horrific things being done in Minnesota (and across our country) — whether that is the murder of a mother in cold blood, the terrorizing of communities simply because of the color of their skin, the kidnapping and trafficking of innocent children, or one of the countless other atrocities that are clearly happening there — has shown us that we are farther apart than we could have ever imagined.

Although we do not believe in the divinity of Jesus or the stories from the Bible, we DO believe that much of Jesus' message holds value and can guide us toward empathy and treating our fellow humans with kindness and respect. There are many more verses we could share, these two from Matthew say enough and should give you pause:
"I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me." Matthew 25:35
"Truly I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of my brethren you did it to me." Matthew 25:40

While our sincere hope is that you will come to realize what is happening to our country and how it doesn't comport with any of our founding documents and values, much less the values and teachings of Jesus that you have purportedly followed for our entire lives; we do not expect it to happen. You have shown that the cult of personality you belong to is more important than living consistently with love and empathy. We may not believe in a god or an afterlife, but feel confident that, if we're wrong, we can stand in front of whatever cosmic force or judge we may face and say that we did the best we could to improve the world and make life b…
