First swell for a while short period swell so hard work couple of keen surfers battling to get a wave
Despite, or most likely because of, the record breaking heat in Europe our corner of Portugal is mired in coastal fog
Its been a magnificent day with no wind but a nice swell down the beach, sand is returning slowly lots of people enjoying the last week before parking charges start
There’s been a run of big swells throughout Western Europe, we’ve even got offshore days 6-8 on the sets no takers. The sands are still miles out to sea so zero beach at 1/4 after low.
Finally some bluish sky. Lots of changes down the beach, mainly that we don’t seem to have one anymore.
6m mayhem as Ingrid sweeps in, already getting power cuts and the beaches are closed from tomorrow
It’s a huge unruly day down the beach, understandable that there’s no takers
The beach has been stripped by the run of massive swells, seems to have dumped it out to sea, messy as
It’s big, very big in fact I’d say it bloody massive, Nazaré is obviously on and has been for 3 days
Another Orca avoider chugging past a couple of hundred meters behind a big breaking swell
Another Captain who believes his engine is immortal, he’s sailing so close to the breaking swell that they would have minutes if the engine failed, and that swell is 3+M
The fear of the Orcas is driving some skippers to take some pretty serious risks sailing far too close to shore, hard to see on a phone camera but this vessel is crazy close to shore
Lovely day at the beach swell was bigger than expected with only a couple out
Small and scrappy down the beach this arvo, to be honest only the loggers were having fun
Going to the pub, coming home, a lovely day and heard my first cicada today, spring is coming
A stunning day down at the beach, literally the calm before the storm, we have two ugly lows coming in with one model showing 60kt (120kph)winds on Wednesday
