I've never written to an MP before

Hi Vanessa,

As my local MP and a member of the government benches, I'm writing to you to express my absolute horror that your party is supporting this proposed legislation.

You may not remember me, but I very clearly remember you coming to the Sumner lifeguards hut on the 2nd of October last year to express your support for the LandSAR volunteers who were searching for Marley Perdue on that day.

As a member of LandSAR, I attend many callouts for people who are suspected of having suicidal ideations. Each time we hear the story in the briefing and each time, SAR volunteers are left with a forlorn sense of tragedy that so many people, young and old, slip through the cracks and decide to take matters into their own hands. It doesn't get any easier as the years go by to hear the same thing over and over again, and it doesn't get any easier to come across yet another body swinging from a tree branch.

Of course there are many reasons why someone may decide to take their own life, and there's no evidence that Marley, in this instance, was struggling with gender identity and acceptance, but this bill that the National Party have decided to support, will do nothing more than increase the number of young people who decide that a one way trip to Whitewash Heads is a preferable outcome to the hatred and bigotry they face day-to-day from transphobes. Hatred and bigotry being amplified and supported by rabble-rousing populists such as Winston Peters and David Seymor.

This bill will legitimise that hatred, bigotry and transphobia, codifying it into law. There is no rational or sane reason for this bill. It's nothing more than imported culture war nonsense intended to garner votes among the worst people in society and sow division in our communities.

I sincerely hope you can use your position within the National Party, and government, to do everything you can to stop this abhorrent erosion of human rights to go through.

I just got one of those reminder notifications from my Google photos app. It came as quite the surprise to find this rejection letter from the US army in there. I have absolutely zero memory of doing this and there's even less than zero chance I genuinely wanted to join the US military.

So, what was I spending on bread before? I tried to add it up. I typically bought a loaf a week from the supermarket. Either Couplands white sliced bread or Nature Fresh depending on which shop I went to. I split these 50/50. Also, I'd buy a load of fancy Vic's bakehouse French Batard occasionally

I recently bought a second hand Panasonic bread maker. It's wonderful to have fresh baked bread when you wake up in the morning, and even more wonderful not to have to bother kneading dough when making pizzas, but something I hadn't considered was how much cheaper it is.
