Neon and glass working! Such an amazing space, we are so spoiled for opportunities to take classes from amazing people creatively making in these beautiful spaces, open to all this weekend!
Finally, Chicago Avenue Fire Arts Center, in the heart of George Floyd Square. Forging, metal working, jewelery and…
Time for fire! 🔥 Gorgeous demonstrations and exhibits at Foci Center for Glass Arts, truly stunning.
It’s a Doors Open Minneapolis 🧵! Highpoint Center for Printmaking on Lake was awesome, and Heart of the Beast on Hennepin featured impressive puppets, costumes and masks including many spotted in the Mayday Parade - definitely visit these two.
When the design for the music venue at the Upper Harbor Terminal retained the heavyweight industrial structures, we gained a great outdoor space and potentially a tremendous new canvas for paint expression…
No words truly capture the Mayday Parade each year in Minneapolis, particularly this year.
The Jacarandas are in bloom and it’s a great day to be outside for Ciclotón!
I've loved this week in Ciudad de México - perfect weather and Metrobús made it so easy to get around. Protected ciclovias show how wildly popular the ecobici bike share program is too. Tomorrow though, I'm excited to experience a car-free Paseo de la Reforma for those who walk, roll, and ride!
On a sunny, cold day like today it's fun to remember we're only ~two weeks away from the opening day for outdoor ice skating rinks in Minneapolis.
Really enjoyed Minnesota e-bike rebate program commentary from @lucyrehm.bsky.social, who is also the chief House author. To paraphrase: let us meet enthusiastic response by doing *more*: www.startribune.com/mn-ebike-reb...
🚨 All appropriate state and local agencies have been alerted and are standing by. (Don’t) shelter-in-place and await further instructions.🚨
Newer construction meets some of the oldest tunnels under Minneapolis, dating back to 1870s under Chicago Ave, Washington, Hennepin, and other streets. Staff mentioned that you can find anything down there because it all washes into storm water drains including many different IDs.
Much respect to the Central City Tunnel system team, the underground cathedral-style tunnels are gorgeous. And… success, in that we made down, up, and back out!
Completing quick confined space briefing and safety awareness training ahead of entry.
Setup and prep for a sanctioned Minneapolis sewer tour with Public Works. Looking forward to a 70’ descent into the underground.
Meanwhile, less publicized - your future Social Security payments received another substantial reduction in just a single year (from 79% of benefits projected in 2024, now reduced to 77%): www.ssa.gov/oact/TRSUM/t...
The @wedge.live Cat Tour is starting with with the donning of our Grand Marshall’s sash.
How close did the tunnel get to these former grail silo towers now condos? Pretty close!
The tunnel resurfaces beside the new Lake street station, just past the condos.
Laying the rail is still an actively continuing project inside the mile-long tunnel.
68,000 yards of concrete, underwater welding dive teams, and lots of water pumping made it possible to work and build as deep as nearly 50’ below Cedar Lake Parkway. Long-term water mitigation is planned into the infrastructure itself.
Attending the @metrotransitmn.bsky.social tour of the Kenilworth LRT tunnel expanding the Green Line. Adjacent bike trails targeting a return by the end of the year alongside new concrete sitting areas and pavilions at the near the east entrance.
Petrified Forest National Park rocks. How did the trees in this enormous log jam crystallize into quartz? Volcanoes covered this area in silica-rich ash from Earth’s mantle over 200M years ago. The colors beyond white that make up this rainbow are from impurities like iron. 🌈
