Today I had the joy of participating in a VERY-short-notice Stargate meetup here in Melbourne, Australia outside Metro Comic Con! Met some very cool people. Existing fans are everywhere! #SaveStargate
Melbourne Stargate fans! See you in 4 hours for the #SaveStargate meetup outside Metro Comic Con! savestargate.com/events
The funniest and most disappointing part about Overwatch's menu overhaul is that they overwhelm the Home tab with 3-6 ads for shop bundles, so I just.. don't spend any time there. I don't need to be advertised to - I'm either on the Heroes or Play tab. I still love the iconic Overwatch 1 main menu.
It took me 6 weeks and almost 30 hours of driving time, but I did it - I've reached Legend Island in Forza Horizon 6. Now to finish all the things on the map. There's so much to do in this game - this may take a while.
The Stargate community is large, global, and varied. There'll be a watch-along in under 7 hours of SG-1's Window of Opportunity (S4E6), a fan favourite. Stream it on your own to bump those concurrent viewers. Details @ savestargate.com/events #SaveStargate
The worst part about this, is that the execs are wrong. An existing, dedicated fanbase is a *godsend* for modern content, as it ensures you have higher reach. And the producers know this, so they were *of course* writing to reach both. #SaveStargate
10 years of #Overwatch. I may not have hit 3,000 hours, but it's been a wild ride!
For those curious, the #Overwatch Loot Box pool gained 2 Epic skins in the Season 2 Mid-season update: - Imperial Guard Reaper - Terracotta Medic Baptiste
It's 1:20pm. A story in 3 parts. This is the second time in two weeks I've seen this happen. The first time (Patch Tuesday, day of), it did restart while I was eating lunch. #Windows11
Likely. With my quick test as a Windows user, I find the existing behaviour confusing & have asked for clarification. Long story short below. I'd personally want looser fallbacks, but I know macOS guidelines say to be strict to avoid accidental capture. App capture more reliably uses app ID only.
I have manually opted into Extended Security Updates. I should not be getting an alert asking me to install Windows 11. (see the right side of the first screenshot) #Windows
It's bad all the way down. Generally I try to use 60Hz/fps wherever I can, but it's not always possible. :(.
Also, fun UI bug, if you select "Role Queue" and select a previous season, it shows Hero SR (which wasn't yet supported) instead of Most Played.
Well, this weekend was educational! Learned Gradle, Yarn, Fabric, Minecraft's world rendering pipeline (order of operations), Mixins, and that injection points *matter*. I got the mod fully updated and working how it used to, but my favourite mistake was using camera position data.. oops.
And when we say "we recommend updating, as new releases have bug fixes" - we mean it! It's also why it's imperative that if you experience bugs in your favourite open-source software, you report it to the developers! That's the only way it'll get fixed!
I don't explicitly remember, but I haven't rewatched Blizzcon 2017-2019 in a while. The last time in OW2 they did a roadmap like this was for Season 5, which is way too long ago.
This is a crazy take from someone at Fedora. OBS 30.1.0 & above use a runtime last updated in Oct-2024 and marked EOL prior to our Jan-2025 release. Newer versions of it have critical bugs that we didn't want to pass to our users - we instead reported them upstream. Apparently that's bad?
Apparently the Overwatch executive team believe a main menu link to Match History isn't important enough (it currently takes 2 clicks to get to), but a *second* shop tab, labelled "Maximilien's Vault," is important enough. Even the 6v6 experiment didn't get this priority treatment.
Giving my PC time to boot is... fun. Quite sure this is somehow caused by WSL. No idea how to debug it.
Being a JavaScript developer by day, I love being able to carry over knoweldge and skills to personal projects. So this weekend I successfully enabled hot reload in Java for Minecraft plugins in VS Code.
With Overwatch Classic out, I revisited a few of my own Highlights & POTG clips from OW1. Because of this, I figured out why the Overwatch 2 HUD still feels out of place for me: *opacity*. Overwatch 1 had a more transparent HUD, and it felt MUCH better to me. Here's an edit I made, with reference.
When your hands get home row wrong (and you weren't looking) but Spotify still correctly guesses what you meant. How on earth?!
Finally rebuilt my voice satellite for Home Assistant after the SD card corrupted itself a while back. I got lucky because the more useful configuration files were intact, but I did actually spot one file that *did* get corrupted - the simpler config. *phew*
Now more than ever, I wish I had the budget for this domain. Would make for a wicked Bluesky handle.
I spent an hour last night troubleshooting a crash-on-shutdown on Linux in OBS when the user has opened the "What's New" dialog any time during the session. Continued troubleshooting today. My luck continues to fail. I fear fixing this requires a refactor to match other usages.. :(
Decided to finally put a 2nd SSD into my gaming PC as my poor C drive was always on the brink. Moved most games successfully, except Forza Horizon 5 (Xbox app). It was failing at the 10% mark. Verifying files didn't fix it. The cause? One audio asset file, in Italian.
Took me 44 tank matches and at least 12 non-placement DPS matches across 3 days. But I did it. Should not require that many. @PlayOverwatch
After a two-season loss streak, finally had a win streak.. and then a 3 hour tease. Now I'm finally back in Gold 3. Only three more divisions to be back in platinum again.
That moment when one of your temperature sensors just randomly stops working for 12 hours, and then fixes itself. Straight up just didn't report any values. Then continued as if nothing went wrong. The other 3 sensors, one of which is further away, had no issues. Smart home shenanigans.
