Wanted to share some encouraging data on the indie games job market. Still not great out there, but we're seeing positive signals: 📈 Jobs ↑ 17% YoY 🚀 New studios ↑ 59% YoY Also, the market is increasingly global: 🌍 US share of traffic is trending down: 45% → 41% → 36%

Hi Greg,

No difference.

As you're very well aware, our pay-what-you-can prices are well below market rate. To say the indie games community isn't one that's flush with cash is an understatement. So, we endeavor to make our prices as approachable and accessible as possible.

In addition, we don't do upsells for additional featuring, etc. If we allowed bigger companies with larger budgets to conquest our job board and drown out the listings from smaller indies, we'd just be creating another space where their games, their studios, and their career opportunities aren't supported or seen.

None of this makes for a great business, but it is what we feel is necessary to support the community that we love so dearly.

Some (more) good news: Our annual letter (below) shared that we saw more jobs in 25 than 24 after 2 years of declines. We're only a few days in & I'm absolutely knocking on wood rn, but January is up 53% YoY so far! If there's light at the end of this tunnel, it just got brighter.

We’re still a long way from “all the indie jobs, all the time”, but we’re 1,000 developers closer. Thank you for trusting us with one of the most important things you do: hiring, building, and growing your teams.

You might’ve noticed I’ve been pretty quiet about growth the past couple of years. It never felt right to celebrate traffic or engagement when so much of it was driven by people suddenly needing work.

But this year, something shifted.

In 2025, we finally saw job postings start to tick back up– especially in the back half of the year. We’re still below the highs of 2021 and 2022, but compared to last year, there are more indie jobs being posted again.

And after the last few years, that feels worth celebrating.

So, here’s to you and the next 1,000 indie developers who find their people through Work With Indies and the games you'll make together.
