world's worst goth
@worldsworstgoth
Charm City original nerd bringing you open data from space and climate resilience from Baltimore. Also: liminal places, analog art (incl occasional cyanotypes), local weirdness. Not: employer opinions.
Very close to the finale, it started raining. No one moved except to shield the electronics. I snapped a phone picture for my memory, and whispered that I was absolutely going to lose it when Tim Curry left us. And I did.
👍🏻 A good ten miles of well maintained official bike trail accessible nearly from your doorstep. 👎🏻 It's built on the bones of a world-class city wide trolley system ripped out for the Eisenhower highway project as per the plot of Who Framed Roger Rabbit. No 9 Trolley Trail, Ellicott City, Maryland.
It is #Baltimore 's BMore Scrap's 10th scrapiversary! Celebrating with them this afternoon netted a mini cupcake with the usual creative reuse landfill redirection craft supply experience. baltimore.scrapcreativereuse.org
Emergency Frod habitat construction. This buddy was in the rain barrel, somehow? A Ranger's work is never done. #gardening #frogs
Free Library is not so little on the inside. Main Street, #EllicottCity Maryland. #drwho
What a feeling to plop down in the local public library stacks and incidentally find a book by an old friend from years and platforms and a snake portrait workshop ago. (Yes of course I checked it out, @kylecassidy.bsky.social)
Fleur des Histoires Belgium, 1470 Ink, paint, gold, and cat paws on parchment. Walters Art Gallery, Paws on Parchment medieval manuscript exhibit thru Feb 22. (Baltimore, free) thewalters.org/exhibitions/...
You guyyyssssss the Kodak keychain camera is so adorably smol. Glasses for scale. There is a 64 gb memory card in that thing, merely half of what it supports. Takes video. Looking forward to taking it out places I don't want to lug more expensive or heavy equipment. www.kodak.com/en/consumer/...
Did I finish #knitting the magical Ithaca trip yarn hat before snow? No. But does it fit? On the fourth try, yes.
Yarn chicken. Do I frog the crown - again - and add a couple rows in the decrease and make a gentler curve with less bunching? Or will it lead only to folly? #knitting
Sprites at Cylburn Arboretum by Aaron Smith, from reclaimed materials from Baltimore's Camp Small, a city-run wood reclamation project. There are 18 of them to find, and you are encouraged to move them. www.instagram.com/idle.handstu...
Muddy Creek Falls, Swallow Falls Gorge Trail, western Maryland, 2025.
I get furloughed in this shutdown, maybe I can start a side gig as a pumpkin influencer.
Watkins Glen NY State Park Gorge Trail immediately after overnight rain certainly is a thing. #waterfalls
This begs the question of who but the Corning Museum of Glass in upstate New York is even in the running for largest glass pumpkin, but it's still an impressive feat.
New embellished #cyanotype print just dropped (at Mt Royal Tavern's annual art salon).
Well these aren't so bad framed up. Now to make one more by the weekend for a show. #cyanotype #botanicalart
Work in Progress: extra cicada parade-a fellow picked up last year. Approximately 1 in 200,000 17-year cicadas have blue-grey eyes. I found one in the old yard, gonna paint up a friend in its honor. The original project in Baltimore: www.cicada2021.com
The Iceland poppies had some feelings about yesterday's weather, too, but now the rain barrels are full. #bloomscrolling
American Visionary Art Museum Kinetic Sculpture Race from Patterson Park. Pure and bright #Baltimore weirdness. #AVAM.
For morale: the Iceland poppies are still going and bright beyond the capabilities of this camera firmware. #bloomscrolling
