Artivist I am not the famous UK chef—though I once ate at one of his Padstow, Cornwall restaurants.
A woman dropped this off in the ship’s library on the last day of our Scandinavian cruise and recommended it, so we brought it home. We’d not known of this author. A very sly, humorous, and clever tale of revenge. We are now checking out the author’s earlier works.
With Governor Gavin Newsom, California Arts Council Chair Roxanne Messina Captor, and First Partner Jennifer Siebel Newsom. I was able to thank him personally for having appointed me to the Council and to chat with him and his wife for a few moments.
Finally made it to the Academy Museum. Although the building is quite impressive (inside and out) the exhibits themselves do not live up to that promise of grandeur but are instead minimalistic in scope and design. It’s like they ran out of money for their exhibition budget.
Saw this recommended in NY Times—a Danish (dubbed into English) murder mystery 6-episode series. It was so good! Easily as good as Harlan Coben—and the scenes are less dragged out. It originally aired in 2021, but a second season is finally being released May 7 on Netflix. We’ll be there!
You know it’s spring when 14 different bird species are in your yard at once! (Plus a Common Raven just flew in for a drink at our fountain.)
This show has some mojo. Quirky, absurd, and authentic characters you care about.
Watched these on my flights east and back home. “Nuremberg” told a fascinating story I had been completely unaware of. “F1” opened my eyes to the highly complex behind the scenes technology and strategies in car racing today.
Just watched this Oscar nominated documentary. Gut wrenching. America today.
Heard on NPR about this new 3-part documentary series by the women caught up in an international tantric yoga school over several decades & how they became coerced, abused and trafficked by its cult-like leader. A compelling watch that predates some of what we’ve seen from the Epstein case.
Today, the California State Senate confirmed my appointment. My Senator Catherine Blakespear offered remarks in support during the floor session.
We watched our tenth Harlan Coben series, and this ranks near the top of them (it came out in 2020 and is based on his 2015 book).
What an extraordinary group of California Arts Council 50th Anniversary Arts Awards honorees!
I had the pleasure of meeting the new US Poet Laureate Arthur Sze after his lovely reading and inspiring talk at Arts Orange County’s 16th Creative Edge Lecture today!
We watched our 9th Harlan Coben murder mystery series today (“Safe,” one of his earliest, on Netflix). He is a master storyteller in this genre, even if we have quibbles about some of the series.
Watched the first episode: quite promising! Jason Bateman David Harbour Richard Jenkins (HBO MAX)
