Weir Wood res 3 Sandwich Terns fishing off the dam this afternoon,with 242 Herring Gulls,64 Black Headed Gulls,17 Lesser black backed Gulls & 2 Great black backed Gulls. 1 Great white Egret,1 Common Sandpiper and more Common Tern chicks hatching, Black headed Gulls should hatch any day.

Knepp Estate After realising I hadn’t seen a Turtle Dove for several years,a trip to Knepp this afternoon soon put that right. Pair flying around and perched from the viewing tree platform.

Ashdown Stayed in the woods out the sun this morning,good news all the LSW fledged today. Pretty quiet but and my first Spotted Flycatcher of the year and a female Grey Wag feeding in wet woodland.
Please to have found a Lesser Spotted Woodpecker nest this morning,3 young and adults seen bringing food to hole. Thanks to LSW team which arrived to scope nest early afternoon.
Lunch at The Britannia, Dungerness after watching a male Red breasted Flycatcher at the bird Obs. Other bits included smart male Black Redstart,2 adult Peregrines and this very tame fox.
Castle Water,Rye male Marsh Harrier,Hobby,Cuckoo,14 Swifts,Cattle Egret,16 drake Pochards plus female with 3 young.
Rye NR Few waders around including 3 Bar tailed Godwits,2 Common Sandpipers,2 Sanderlings,64 Dunlin,47 Ringed Plovers, just 2 Little Terns & Peregrine. While having dinner a Red backed Shrike was reported, will have a look tomorrow.
Several good views of the Eastern Subalpine Warbler at Cow Gap,Beachy Head this afternoon between the showers.
