had to postpone the bake cause my mom randomly has surgery this week so I bought some rye flour and added it to my feed this am and I instantly got a 6hr double. so I’ll keep with feeds w rye in it to strengthen until I can bake
8hr double. fixed the temp issue and doing much thicker feeds, a bake this week may be a little optimistic but we’ll see. trying to hit consistent 4-5hr rises.
so I’m back to daily feeds cause that’s how long it’s taking to rise. I think I got the starter too hot which really weakened it so while it’s not dead, I feel like I set myself back like 2wks. oh well. thankfully I’m patient lol

this was my feeds this am, my 1:1:1 was more active so that’s the ratio I’m keeping moving forward. it doubles in 10-12hrs and it’s REALLY hungry by then. so tonight I’m going to do a 1:1:1.5 ish feed and go really heavy on the flour to see how it reacts I also subbed bread for all purpose flour

forgot to update yesterday. acetone smell is gone, she smells a lot sweeter now. she doubles by the next feeding time, ~22-24hrs. I was mixing a little bread flour in with the feedings but I think I’m gonna stick to just whole wheat. I also moved her to a warm room cause the kitchen is cold.
I’m slightlyyyyy off my feeding schedule, but we’ve gotten past the “smells like shit” phase and moved on to the acetone-type smell phase. she’s consistently bubbly before feeding but still no rise yet. feeds are like 1:2:2 rn with mostly whole wheat flour and some bread flour.
