He sits on a bench and Ghost follows him down, kneeling at John’s feet. John watches, eyes stinging a little, while Ghost methodically unlaces his shoes for him, first the left, then the right. He gently tugs them off John’s feet and peels off his wet socks. Then Ghost pauses for a moment, with his big hands loosely wrapped around John’s ankles. He bows to touch his forehead down on John’s knee.
“Thought I lost you,” Ghost quietly admits.
