I'm about half way through "Star City", the spin off show from "For All Mankind", showing the alternate space race from the Soviet side. It's on Apple TV. Good stuff, hitting all the expected paranoid totalitarian beats. Rhys Ifans is great as the program director! www.imdb.com/title/tt3214...
Oh, maybe? I mainly use the xbox store and there, if you waitlist a game and be patient, it'll drop to 50% sooner or later - many of them drop to 10%. I've seen memes about the Steam store doing that too, so assumed it was industry wide?
And now today I've finished Clive Barker's "Books of Blood Vol II"! As these didn't have the chance to traumatize me in my youth, I didn't find them quite as chilling as Vol I, but there was some good stuff in there, for sure. #BookSky
Just finished Cormac McCarthy's "Child of God". I wanted something lightweight, and the subject matter certainly wasn't AT ALL lightweight! 💀 Still, the prose made for a very fast read - not much punctuation to slow things down! 🚀 #BookSky
Finally finished my reread of Doris Lessing's "Shikasta"! 😮💨 Been plugging away at this since the 2nd week of June. It's good! Just very, very dense... I should probably tackle something lightweight next! #BookSky
Got a haul of (mostly horror) short story collections! 📚 Jordan Peele (ed.) - "Out There Screaming" Kirsty Logan - "Things We Say In The Dark" Eric LaRocca - "Things Have Gotten Worse Since We Last Spoke" (thanks @jetboyjetgirl.bsky.social for the rec!) Jorge Luis Borges - "Labyrinths" #BookSky

This week's albums! Fr. Dionysios Tabakis makes Greek Orthodox post-metal ☨ Paco de Lucía does gorgeous flamenco guitar 💃 Witchsorrow for trad, Soothsayer for death doom 🤘 Brutalismus 3000 do nu gabba, ECHT! do bass 💊 Gurrumul pairs aboriginal vocals & minimalism 😻 Matt Berry Trio are peachy 🍑
Yesterday I read Clive Barker's "Books of Blood Vol I". A reread, I was gifted this (& Vol VI) at WAY too young an age, at my own request! 😆 Must've been 10 or 11. I'd heard some ghost stories on the radio & liked them, so asked for horror books. 75% through the Doris Lessing now... 😅 #BookSky
No, that's entirely within the spirit intended! I would have actually made it my first choice for closing track, but I was sure someone was gonna use it!
Just finished Premee Mohamed's "No One Will Come Back For Us, and Other Stories". Great stuff! Several of them interlink in a setting blending the Cthulhu mythos with more traditional folklore. 🐙🧚 Still chipping away at the Doris Lessing, too! #BookSky
#LetterboxdFriday #LastFourWatched Flow: 😻🫣 The Old Dark House: Really fun gothic romp! 🖤 Obsession: Worth the hype! 💔 Murder Death Koreatown: Morally questionable 📹 Shadow Strays: Great action, so-so plot 👊 Peaky Blinders: Eh, fine 🧢 I Love Boosters: Like being blasted with a graphic novel 💥

This week I've enjoyed s1 of Hacks, which is on NOW and Amazon. I really liked Jean Smart in Watchmen, and learned of this show while looking her up. It's about a dark mentorship that forms between a legendary Las Vegas comedian & an entitled, outcast 25-year-old. www.imdb.com/title/tt1181...
Just finished "Memory's Legion" by James SA Corey. A genuine pleasure to read these novellas set in the Expanse universe, giving a little background on well known characters, or detailing the fate of side characters. That's the entire Expanse series finished! 🚀 #BookSky
#LetterboxdFriday #LastFourWatched "Onibaba": I was expecting a ghost story! 👺 "Power of the Dog": Complex emotions 🤠 "Civil War": Aspirational ending 🤞 "Fall": Too long, too stupid 😠 "Keeper": Liked the reveal 🧑🧒🧒 "Looper": Go to China 🇨🇳 "The Bluff": Bad film, fun time! 🏴☠️

Just finished the 1993 anthology "Best New SF 7" edited by Gardner Dozois. Some cracking stories! In true genre tradition, nothing resembling the cover takes place in any of the stories. 😆 Hat tip to @rrwscott.bsky.social for pointing me at this series! #BookSky
