Mamdani's guy, Morris Katz, was the political strategist behind almost all the big wins in NY last night, and is also directing Graham Platner's campaign. There is a coalition of people in this country who want to reshape the Democratic Party into a party of Medicare of All, and I am here for it.

Every candidate political strategist Morris Katz backed in the New York City primaries cleaned up Tuesday night. That includes Claire Valdez, Brad Lander and Micah Lasher, congressional candidates who had Katz on the payroll, and Darializa Avila Chevalier, who appeared in an ad he directed and whose Mamdani endorsement he helped broker. He made Lander into Fred Rogers, extolled the significance of Valdez’s candidacy to the limits of credibility and directed Gov. Kathy Hochul in a spot promoting Lasher. Katz spent much of the spring in Maine, dealing with the high-maintenance campaign of scandal-prone oyster farmer Graham Platner, who ended up cruising to the Democratic nomination for Senate. And to top it all off, Katz finally overcame being the age of 26 in May.

It's interesting that Graham Platner's reddit posts that contain problematic views also contain very anti-fascist, anti-Nazi, pro-LGBTQ opinions. I don't think it's possible to square his anonymous comments with the notion that he is a Nazi.

Rob Saka, who previously was a corporate lawyer for Mark Zuckerberg’s Meta company, must have thought he was going to hold his own corporate-style “all hands meeting,” which, for anybody unlucky enough to experience one of those, involves precisely this format: a bunch of department heads going up and giving some boring updates (“this keeps me up at night”), feigning empathy for employees’ frustrations (“we hear you”), and answering a couple of pre-picked softball questions (“great question, Jeff”). (Special bonus for taking a clearly articulated employee/citizen concern and turning it into an opportunity to push a pet project agenda; in this case, “sidewalks and street lights.”) Here’s the fun thing, though: while corporate employees don’t get to vote on their CEOs, WE get to vote clueless, condescending corporate babble-speak politicians out of office. My unsolicited political advice to Rob Saka is to keep holding events exactly like this. Go on. Keep talking down to your constituents. Keep telling them how you think they should feel. Great work, buddy. Keep up the great work.
