Old miner, new site Studied the world for the last 20 years as an investor. It is starting to feel like a curse. There will be economics. There will be politics. There will be hockey. There will be typos. There will be sarcasm by the ton.
So many of the playoff takes are silly: Buffalo being on an unrivaled 2026 tear, the Canes not for real, the West being much better than the East, the Avalanche being inevitable, etc. It just doesn't match the hockey played in 2026. No promises about the future, but still:
I want to compliment the ladies on handling this data much better until 2020 than the men have since. #EconSky Source: Oxford Economics
It is not as large as it seems. From a rate of change point of view still behind end of '79/'80 move. The herd mentality typical of modern markets is a factor for sure, but also the fact that silver doesn't not have the market depth to handle this kind of moment (weak USD, tighter physical mkt).
Just a reminder: even if one agrees with the Trump admin's goals, they do not have a cogent plan to execute them. These manufacturing jobs don't come back without an acceleration in inflation. #EconSky
We should be giving a small, calibrated tax credit to companies and business who participate in designated economic surveys. Because these tools are decaying rapidly. #EconSky
I am worried we won't have enough laborers to pick all these cherries. #EconSky
Don't kill me, but most of what is blamed on capitalism is actually a function of a two-party system run on legalized bribery that is designed to favor the rich. It isn't like when tax rates were higher, and income inequality lower, that it was America's socialist era.
There are no facts in dispute. Show me where crying about Burns constantly does anything for anyone? He rates as a middle of the pack defenseman at this point in his career. Most rosters have one.
"We need cheap electricity!!! Go AI!! Go datacenters!! Down with inflation!!" Checking in on the impact of tariffs on business equipment... what is that I see in the top right? #EconSky Source: Oxford Economics/Haver Analytics
And it won't matter much for the economy because a large percentage of Americans still have a mortgage well below here. (Though for anyone getting a nice refi I am personally very happy for you.)
I am not going to post the Dow, because it is dumb index. (hokey index construction with very little actual money linked to it) But we have a long way to go to get out of the zone known in the industry as a "dead cat bounce."
If people argue, with evidence, for months and months that something will happen, and when it does, you throw your hands in the air and claim no could see this coming and the the "deranged" people were right, then you are the deranged person.
Just so we all are clear. This is the guy Trump wants primaried.
Heck of a time to pick a trade war with Mexico (US's largest supplier of produce).
Just a reminder that with Europe in a long slowdown, China struggling to stave of disinflation and a completely benign wage outlook in the US, that if we see a surge in inflation it will almost certainly be due to Trump policy mistakes.
... and IF they were informed. Every sincere, good faith Trump supporter I have ever met is working off a completely different view of reality.
