A yokel Bostonian bumbling around Seattle. Stints in 北京 and Bali along the way. I used to craft/edit journalists' spam. Geopolitics is my jam. I post, therefore I am.
Also worth mentioning: His focus on theatrical & long waits before digital VOD isn't as crazy as it sounds. With his June & July release dates, the in-home premier of a Nolan flick becomes almost an event in & of itself, which happens during the holidays & awards season. Kinda brilliant, IMO.
Still processing my thoughts on The Odyssey, but one word was echoing through my brain as I left the theater: Overrated.
Doing some homework before I catch Christopher Nolan's #TheOdyssey this Friday: Gonna revisit the director's cut of Troy and finally watch, for the first time ever, O Brother, Where Art Thou?
WTF is the NY Times doing?! The US & Iran have been actively shooting at each other's military installations for 3 now. What's with all of the hedging?
To everyone in the country sweltering under an oppressive heat wave, we here in the PNW send you our sympathies.
JFC, if I'd known that @realinfowars.bsky.social was so trustworthy, I would've started listening to it years ago. Too bad that Alex Jones is dead, though. Long live the InfoWars Elf!
These charts are pretty damning. Since the start of Trump's rise in 2015 the RMB's influence in global trade has more than doubled.
Kudos to the headline writer at the NY Times who wrote this one. The irony speks for itself. 🤣 (cc: @bryancurtis.bsky.social , @thepressbox.bsky.social)
It's just crazy how misssle & drone attacks every day continue to "threaten" the "cease fire." WTF are these media outlets taking about?
Finally saw The Mandalorian & Grogu today. One of the best low-stakes, meaningless-to-the-characters movie I've ever seen. Top-tier mediocrity. And this is honestly a compliment. It takes skill to craft a fun romp that's meant to be serviceable filler for major IP. 7/10 (rounding up from 6.5).
The NY Times' version of "The President of the United States Is Full of Sh!t" www.nytimes.com/2026/05/28/u...
One of the best Spelling Bee headlines that I've seen in a while. But does the changing of a single letter qualify it as a #StrainedPun? @bryancurtis.bsky.social @thepressbox.bsky.social
So that's 4 Dark Side Force-wielders. And the plot revolves around a plan to find a long-lost warlord who could revive the Empire cool) *and* there's a potential Jedi near him (cool)... Yet not only is Luke Skywalker nowhere to be seen, he's never even mentioned! WTF?
And to top it all off, the main protagonist is one of the few surviving Witches of Dathomir. Yet another Force-wielder. WTF? (And as great a stunt woman & martial artist she is, Diana Lee gives a cringe-worthy performance in the role.)
Then, also out of nowhere, and for no discernable reason, a leftover Inquisitor shows up? WTF?
Like, there was this uber powerful dark Jedi Master out there for 25 years after Order 66 and he just shows up out of the blue one day w/a padawan? WTF?
The headline writers at The Economist are really on one. The title of today's episode of The Intelligence has *two* strained puns! @bryancurtis.bsky.social @thepressbox.bsky.social

Current scene on Vashon Island. Wondering which gods we may have offended to have this hailstorm wrought upon us. Whatver it was, I'll bet that it was The Needling's fault. @theneedling.com
