A proof of concept illustration made for my local community centre. Good fun!

A section of the linked interview, reading: I draw manga by hand, too. Filming [animation digitally] has become convenient, and corrections can be made right up until the last minute. #portfolioday again? Ok, then. I'm Carsten, a visual artist living and working in Ireland. (Semi-)abstract landscapes and structures; paintings and illustrations. Also (still) working away on a comic in the background. Available for commissions etc...

A painted illustration - titled "RED PENNON" - of a strange, ambulatory mechanical construct making its way across a ruptured plain. Abstract turquoise and black structures protrude into a purplish-blue sky. A circular hollow at the machine's side plays host to an armoured figure holding a lance adorned with a red flag streaming in the wind.

A painting: a bizarre, abstract, perhaps subterranean environment. Contorted, vaguely anatomical shapes twist across the frame and mingle with strata of rock and stone. Pallid motes of detritus drift idly. Heavy, sepulchral shadows dominate.

An abstract painting in largely moody, green tones. Dark shapes and jagged pathways converge on a semi-translucent, shady cluster. Traces of warm red dissolve into the background. Implied reflections and/or a calamitous abyss make up the foreground.

An illustration: (a version of) Linnea Sterte's Un-maker/Wanderer character from A GARDEN OF SPHERES ambles casually along a ridge of dark, possibly volcanic rock beneath a bright blue sky, obliquely gazing towards the viewer. White clouds amiably creep along the horizon. The scenery is dominated by clumps of non-specific, outsized cacti in tones of warm red, greenish yellow and grey. Beyond the central array, a white, dirt-speckled sphere lies half-buried in the earth, waiting to release whatever type of god it may contain. Various bits of grassy vegetation lean idly in the sun's diffuse light, blasting in from the left. In places, green lichen or moss speckles the stone.

I understand that you want to keep using the original, but isn't the tone basically just a manipulated close-up picture of a basketball? Why not make your own variation for those instances where it doesn't meet your requirements? It won't be a 100% match, but close enough?

Bluesky's in-app translation is, er, highly questionable. The "opens-new-browser-window-to-access-google-translate" manoeuvre was annoying, sure, but what is *this*?

BS translation of a Kamome Shirahama post: Advertising] 4/23 release "Tonari hat Atelier" The writing of the 16th volume was opened. The way back from the city of the island, the key free reminds me of his own childhood. Wind, look-up starry sky, light of flame that illuminates the dark. All of them were beautiful and all of them were curses 16 Wrong Special Edition has a key free notebook-style book-based notebook notes, so it seems that reservations have begun to be started with various web bookstores. In addition to the books, there are plans for taking a variety of tonori hats! Please check by all means along with TV anime!

Just happened across this EARTHSEA graphic novel adaptation, released last year. Immensely surprised that great numbers of ppl apparently find this bland, low-contrast take featuring (what looks like) stiffly posed, painted-over 3D model characters "stunningly beautiful". Dramatic lack of juice imo.

An abstract painting: "CONVEYANCE". Interlocking, multicoloured, angular shapes in a vaguely industrial arrangement, redolent of ports, freight, logistics. Rust, metal, containers; mingling before a faint flavescent sky.

A semi-abstract painting (titled "TRIBUTARY") of a waterlogged landscape scattered with fibrous patches of warmly red vegetation - lichenous, mosslike, possibly mycelial. A group of four people can be seen from a distance, crossing the image from left to right via a narrow strip of land amid the shallow waters. Behind them: a dramatic sky and dark mountainous shapes. Insistent blue-white light seeps into the frame from the upper right-hand corner.

A semi-abstract painting ("CIVILIZATION"): a noxious, multicoloured, urban tangle of architecture and industrial excess haemorrhaging waste into a dying landscape. Cables, hoses and wires twine before a warm, yellow sky. Angry black shadows cling to the sprawl.

A semi-abstract painting ("VERGE"); a landscape in beiges, white, tones of green; dominated by sepia and black. Dark silhouettes of vaguely defined structures loom over segmented olive terrain overlaid with shadow. A chunk of white light hovers near the upper centre, dissolving into the suggestion of a pale, brownish background. Near the right-hand border, a small figure can be seen in outline, struggling against a blast of wind as it heads for cover.

...how long would shoddily recording these placeholder lines with your phone actually take? A few minutes? Guess that's too much effort for these guys.
