I didn't realize learning MD history in 4th grade was standardized that's crazy
One World Under Doom/Our World Under Doom: A classic "Doom defeats himself" with some political satire for set dressing. The politics were a little eye-rolling but everything else worked well enough. I especially appreciated the FF tie-in issues, and how they enhance the thesis at the end.
The Odyssey: At a certain point I would simply stop getting out of the boat. Had fun, but I'm not sure I'll be thinking about it that much afterwards
Absolute Martian Manhunter Vol 1 Martian Vision: The kind of book that feels like you need to train just to learn how to read it. I think 20th Century Men is still my favorite from Camp, but it's close
Driver next to me was honking like an asshole only to get stuck at the red light like five seconds later
Project Hail Mary: A decent hard science picture. Not as much gravitas or splendor as its contemporaries, but cool for what it is
QTP with a ship that makes you happy... Brünhild from Legend of the Galactic Heroes
Nippon Sangoku Season 1: I would also throw my life away for Ohga Wajima. All the elite strategy of Romance of the Three Kingdoms or Legend of the Galactic Heroes with the goofiness of Golden Kamuy. Gonna be one of those anime I bring up every few months as an "underappreciated gem."
Mike & Nick & Nick & Alice: Fun premise, great performances. Wasn't sure if "so 90s down to the slow motion" was the right call but I still had a good time
The Apothecary Diaries Season 1: Love these characters, but I'm not that into the main romance
The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes: Best I can say is it held my interest.
Disclosure Day: Way more people in the theater than I was expecting, especially in the middle of a weekday. Very old-school, very sincere, made me cry.
Send Help: Idk why I assumed this wouldn't be as funny as Raimi's other movies. Silly me.
The Power Fantasy Vols. 1-3: I was a big fan of Gillen and Wijngaard's other superhero "deconstruction" Peter Cannon: Thunderbolt, and once again they've put together something that changes how I'll read everything else in the genre going forward.
This kindle list for "Because you watched Nippon Sangoku" is the hardest I've ever been read
Black Widow & Captain America: I assumed this was a team-up book but it's really a collection of two different Waid/Samnee collabs. Black Widow was a nice little adventure but idk what was up with those Cap stories
Superman: The Kryptonite Spectrum: I only read the first issue of Ice Cream Man and that was ages ago so I wasn't sure what to expect, but it was pretty dang good and I appreciate that it wasn't afraid to have fun
Red Cliff Pts. 1 & 2: A whole lot of fun, especially liked the guy playing Zhuge Liang
