I may have cracked the code on stone bases. This is just plasticard and liquid greenstuff. Cut out some squares/rectangles, carve off the edges, stipple liquid greenstuff, sand down slightly when dried.

And I think that's the base. Cork, clay cat litter, plastic card cut into cobblestone shapes, the edge of an ink ribbon cartridge, part of an old 25mm base, and some coal from the spoil bank.

Added a few more cables and some hanging skulls. Wish I had more skulls but I ran out. I think I need to chunk out the tactical rock and replace it with some sort of basing that matches my other bases.

The greenstuff isn't pretty (and got messed up at one point) but it's mostly covered by the shoulder so I think it'll be fine. I still need to find something to put on the championship belt and he needs a gewmore cables but I think we are dangerously close to paint time here.

And to show off how inconsistent RT scaling is we've got Brother Oliverus (who has lost half of his base somehow) in his cobra pattern terminator armor.

Compared to a tech marine of the era it's not terrible at all after you factor the slightly thicker base and the rubble he's got under his foot.

Smallus compares less favorably in size against this chaos kitbash i've been putzing with. It's funny to see how big primaris actually are. Doubly so when the heresy models only got slightly larger when rescaled.

I realized I own a picture taking device and can just directly compare this dude to a firstborn. I'd say he looks suitable terminatory in stature.

This weathering looks really cool, which is a shame because it's a result of reactivating the ink underneath and causing all sorts of problems lol

I keep using the bad white for terrain that doesn't go on smoothly and then not doing enough coats for it to look nice. However, yellow looks good anyway so it's fine. I'll just get more of a proper white and redo some spots

ty I like them cause they're yellow but aren't fists, don't have a crazy to freehand symbol like lamenters, and their dickishness means they're chronically undersupplied so I can justify putting bayonets on all of them.

Marines Malevolent so I can do hazard stripes. I painted one fist a while back and snuck on some stripes tho. Stripes and checkerboards are just fun to do.

The test dudes. Beaky was recess shaded w/ fluorescent pink ink before yellow ink, rocket launcher was painted pink in a few places, then glazed back up to white kinda roughly before yellowing, and the melta guy was pinked after yellowing instead of before (and not highlighted cause I forgot)

The really early stages of painting always feel so goofy. There's a plan at play but right now it's not obvious what the end result will look like if you don't know what the plan is. Anyway, paynes gray is an excellent paint. I try to use it in every paintjob. Love that stuff.

Lots of rooting powder and babying them inside under lights the first winter and of the ones that survived I moved them out in the spring. This is the only one that lived through ita first winter and now that it has lived through a 2nd winter I feel like it is here to stay.

Forever ago I got some loose skullreapers torsos and I tried kitbashing them onto some mkii bodies with mixed success. Tried again with a few parts I had left over from something else. Still needs straps holding stuff down but it looks way better than the first try.

Right after that is all sorted out I'm rolling out a fleet of barrel trains.
