"Lindsay mentioned she'd be open to hosting a craft night, and Christine used to do book signings down there all the time. Your hesitation is valid, but can you at least think about it?" Ainsley was silent. Fiona had a point, she usually did where business was concerned. "I'll think about it."

"I get why you're hesitant, everything with your Dad, but I think not refinishing the basement is a missed business opportunity. We could finally be able to host story hour like when you were little. Mariah said she'd be open to hosting a monthly book club. It'd create community with our customers."

"I'll give that project the green light," Ainsley agreed. "But he's definitely getting a bonus for helping out like that. Any other great ideas, brains?" "Yes, well this next one is Mariah's, but I told her I'd mention it. She thinks it'd be a good idea to refinish the basement-" "No."

"That's why I talked with Alaric," Fiona continued. "He said he'd love to help out and create something for the store. Think about it this way, it would broaden our consumer base bringing in so much extra money. And you just hired more staff, so fulfilling orders shouldn't be too difficult."

"Well, the top comment on almost every video I post to the bookstore's social media is someone wishing we had a website, so people who don't live in the area can order online and still support us." "Fee, I don't know that much about tech. Creating a website is a foreign concept to me."

Garreth retreated to his own room, leaving the girls to chat in the guest room. "How'd he take your advice?" Ainsley asked. "It went well," Fiona said. "He seemed receptive. I've got plenty more idea as well, not just for Garreth, but for the bookstore as well." "Do you now? Let's hear them."

After eating, Ainsley set up the game table so they could play a few rounds of cards before heading up to bed. It took Garreth by surprise, the first few times he'd play games with Ainsley. She had a seriously competitive side to her, but it just made him love her even more.

"You have a point," he admitted. "I know I need to start marketing my book, and everyone seems to say social media is the future of marketing. Plus, I'd much rather do it alongside Ainsley." Fiona's face perked up. "I might be young and lack some life experience, but so far I have yet to be wrong."

Garreth contemplated this, if creating a presence on social media was the best way to get his book out there, why not build his image alongside Ainsley's? Fiona had a point, he would be far more comfortable making videos by her side. Plus, Ains might have an easier time getting her work out there.

A lightbulb suddenly appeared over Fiona's head. "Or...you can create the account with Ainsley. Once she gets to the publishing stage herself, she'll need to do some marketing as well, so why not kill two birds with one stone. Plus, I have a feeling you'll be more comfortable making videos with her"

"Which is?" "I'm not good at talking to very many people other than Ainsley. Plus, just sitting in a room, alone, talking to a camera is weird." "You talk to me just fine, and your friends and family." "Fine, anyone I don't know." "So, pretend you're taking with Ainsley then, or..."

"People love interacting with authors," she continued. "When you start writing your next book, share a little about what the writing process is like, give advice to other aspiring writers. Garreth, there's a million directions you could go." "Fiona, I think you're forgetting one important thing."

"Start by creating videos talking about your favorite books, and what you're currently reading, gain followers that way. Then, start bringing up your own book the closer it gets to your release date. Once it's out you can interact with people who have read it, answer any questions people may have."

Fiona gave him an irritated eye roll before continuing. "There's like a million different niches on SimTok, it's not just dancing. There's a whole side of SimTok that's exclusively about reading, and I figured that's where you could start. You like reading, so that's where your in would be."

"Fiona," he stopped her mid sentence. "I'm not a very interesting person. I don't have very many hobbies, and in case you haven't noticed I'm not that likeable either. Besides, I don't even know where I would start with SimTok. Isn't that app exclusively for 10 second dancing videos? I don't dance."

"Okay, okay!" she exclaimed. "I was thinking we start with building on who you already are, which shouldn't be difficult. Step 1 would be creating a SimTok account to try an reach a wider audience, because let's be real nobody really follows you on Simstigram, and it's kind of dying app anyways."

"Obviously we can discuss proper compensation for my assistance later." He eyed her, skeptically. "I kind of already have a marketing team." "And from the sounds of it they're awful." Garreth supposed Fiona wasn't wrong with that statement. "What are some of your ideas," he finally asked.

"She might have mentioned to me that you need some help figuring out the marketing for your book," Fiona explained. "And lucky for you I'm pretty good with marketing. I mean, just look at what I've done with the bookstore's social media in just 6 short months, and I have a ton of other ideas too."

Fiona ignored Garreth's protests, and followed him into the kitchen anyways. "You know," he began while gathering ingredients. "I'm grateful for the offer, but you should continue your conversation with Ains. She loves spending time with you." "What if I told you this is about Ains...kind of."

Garreth shut his book and set it to the side. "I think I'm going to get started with dinner.." "Can I help?" Fiona asked. Garreth shifted his gaze between the sisters. If Fiona's cooking skills were anything like Ainsley's, then... "I don't know." "It'll be fun, come on," Fiona shrugged him off.

Ainsley let out a small laugh. While Fiona did co-own the bookstore alongside her older sister, it was Ainsley who took care of most of the work. Not because Fiona wasn't capable, she let her help whenever she wanted, but more so because Ainsley wanted her to focus on school and just being a teen.

"And then," Fiona continued her animated rambling. "He demanded to speak with the owner, so I ducked down behind the counter and popped back up reintroducing myself as one of the co-owners. He didn't like that much, because he let out an exasperated noise before storming out, demands never met."

Back when Ainsley and Garreth were looking for a new apartment in Windenburg, the one thing Ainsley wanted, above all else, was two bedrooms. Specifically so Fiona could stay over whenever she wanted, an offer her sister had yet to take her up on, until today.
