#LittleShell Running on Empty - Many people have worked for our tribe along the way, but our chairman has been the catalyst for over a decade, volunteering his time when no one cared about us, there was no money and things were very different. nativenews.jour.umt.edu/2013/?page_i...
My cousin @sassymetischick.bsky.social doesn't need to be defended, but I'll say again that she is Métis, one of the 3 Indigenous Peoples recognized in Canada, and my blood relative. While she’s never says this, she also descends from the Pembina Chippewa and her family is on Turtle Mountain rolls.
I just got my copy of Indigenous Critical Reflections on Traditional Ecological Knowledge. Looking forward to reading it! @ecohugger.bsky.social #BookSky #NativeSky
When I was at our tribal office, I picked up a copy of a #Michif dictionary, courtesy of our cousins at the Manitoba Métis Federation. MMF and the #LittleShell have had a longstanding language revitalization partnership. Many of the resources are available at GDI. www.metismuseum.ca/resource.php...
There’s a photo mural of many of our ancestors at the entrance of our tribal office. It’s a beautiful tribute to the perseverance of those who came before us. We owe so much to them. #LittleShell 🧡🪶♾️
On International Mother Language Day, a reminder that Level 1-3 of the #Ojibwemowin Rosetta Stone course is available via the Mille Lacs Band! #Ojibwe #Anishinaabemowin
I found a used copy of "The Whole Country was 'One Robe'" : The Little Shell Tribe's America at a local bookstore. It's a very, very rare book about the history of our tribe, and sold online now for $$$. I'm so happy it found its way home to me. 🧡🪶♾️
I think we’re related.❤️♾️ @sassymetischick.bsky.social #Michif #cousins
We’ve been known as the Landless Indians and the Montana Métis. Montana Poet Laureate Chris La Tray’s book Becoming #LittleShell is the story of who we are, our 156 year quest to regain federal recognition, and where we are today. #BookSky #NativeAmericanHeritageMonth milkweed.org/book/becomin...
