I design soft, romantic knitting patterns and have strong opinions about knit socks. Here you'll find yarn, tea, gardening, and a daily cheerful thing. I used to practice law, but now I'm nobody's lawyer. she/her
I have a new knitting pattern out today! The Deckle Edge Socks are the third pattern in this year's Golden Honey Sock Club. Lots of texture, five graded sizes, knit from the cuff down. More info here: www.ravelry.com/patterns/lib...
Somebody has clearly talked to Google about the importance of tildes in Spanish, but erm, they're not exactly consistent about it.
The 15 Knots Hat KAL kicks off today in my Facebook group! There's a Zoom call this evening with lots of fun planned for the rest of August. Come join us: www.facebook.com/groups/abeei...
A confused young woman repeatedly ends up in places where nobody else thinks she belongs.
Woke up from a dream about sea glass at 5:38. Low tide was a magnificent -1.6 at 5:17. Decided it was a sign so hustled myself out to the beach. This was my reward.
Mine is a little chest of drawers. I got it from my grandma, who got it from her grandma, who got it from her grandma. My best estimate is that it’s about 150 years old. I use it for sweaters and handkerchiefs and other pretty things.
Read for filth by my kid sister.* *Kid sister is actually 35 years old.
I had these two on my walls in college bc I was insufferable, I fear
I’ve got a new, free tutorial up on the blog today! If you’re looking to use up a ton of scraps, this mitered square bag is a great way to go. www.abeeinthebonnet.com/blog/free-kn...
The Frontispiece Socks are coming this Friday as the next installment in the 2026 Golden Honey Sock Club. Knit from the cuff down, graded to five sizes, heel flap and gusset. It's not too late to join! www.ravelry.com/patterns/sou...
Knit my first sock with a Fleegle heel this weekend! Followed Fleegle’s OG blog post, which is still up after all these years. Fits surprisingly well, and though I suspect I’ll always love heel flap and gusset the most, this is a nice addition to the stable of heel techniques.
Well, this is the first time I'm seeing this. I am not a fan of someone else deciding something is too "rude" for me.
Friends, I’m at a crafting conference, and look! I made a hammered wire bow and put it on a necklace chain all by myself!
Smallpox continues to follow me around (not literally, thank God). Spotted this fellow last weekend.
Fed my soul today. Then fed myself some cannoli (always Mike's, don't come for me).
Today, I sacrificed a shirt to the twin gods of Facebook marketplace and Restor-A-Finish. The gods are generous, but they demand something in return. It was worth the sacrifice. (That glow-up took just one hour of my time and $10 of materials.)
I’ve been recording more videos in my office, which led to me realizing it’s really echoey in there. I bought a huge rug to muffle the echoes. Then I had to rearrange. Things spiraled out of control.
The 2026 Golden Honey Sock Club is officially open! The first pattern is the Florilegium Socks. www.ravelry.com/patterns/sou...
I feel powerless every day, so I harness what little power I do have to create a cheerful little corner of the internet where you can rest for just a bit. It’s not much, but it’s what I can give right now. Here’s a photo from a hike last week.
On Friday, I finally finished knitting my Mitered Square Blanket of Doom. Here are some important stats: 3 years from start to finish 273 knit squares Approximately 205 hours of knitting time Approximately 8.6 hours of weaving in ends 1/3
So it turns out my memory is accurate after all, and I come by the stubbornness honestly 😂 Here’s the legend himself. 5/5
I've been knitting several different versions of the same hat pattern this week because I'm working on a project about gauge, yarn construction, and fiber content. Bonus: at the end, I'll have lots of cozy hats!

Sometimes, it's fun to give old knits a little photo shoot and remember what I loved about them in the first place. These are the Amicus Socks, named for some very special friends who helped me get through a rough time.
We had a large family gathering over the weekend, and without even realizing it, I knit an entire sock. What a fun surprise! Alas, the sock is also a surprise, so here's a photo of some other socks instead.
I got to spend the briefest moment in this room full of old books last week, and when I tell you it was the stuff of dreams, I need you to know I am not exaggerating. Not even a bit.
Do you ever feel the perfectionism monster creeping up on you while you’re knitting? Remember, the small imperfections in our projects are signs that human hands made the finished item. We’re not machines. We’re people.
Sometimes a flower has a stem that’s too weak to hold it upright in a vase. When that happens, I like to trim it short and float it in a pretty bowl of water. Here’s a rose getting the float treatment.
