Passionate about the power of creativity and connection. Teaching sewing in Belfast. Posts about sewing, cats, dogs and random ramblings. Was @abbyjss at the other place.
We went the first day of the school holidays and I won't lie, it took a lot of will power not to smuggle one or two out.
We've had a lovely couple of days on Rathlin island with great friends and wonderful wildlife. Sound up for the sound of thousands of seabirds, including puffins, razorbills, guillemots and kittiwakes. 😍
We went to Oslo when The Boy was 6. We were struggling with more complex autism related behaviours which were thankfully relatively short lived. But for a while it was heartbreakingly hard going. I felt I was losing my little boy. This statue by Gustav Vigeland nearly broke me when I saw it.
Oh! I get to recommend the highest tide by Jim Lynch again. Nature (well slightly surreal nature) is the hook that all the messy human stuff hangs together on.
Do I get to be the first to cry "LOKI!"? 😆 @louiestowell.bsky.social There is also a great comic adaptation of the Iliad and Odyssey by Marcia Williams. It doesn't change it but makes it so much more accessible to kids. #KidsBooksFriday
Me, an environmentalist: yes I only treat fleas as and when is needed. I don't want to subject the environment to more insecticides than is necessary. Oh, and I'm scared of my cat.
Post the best picture you have ever taken of your pet. An oldie but a goodie.
I'm very confused to why a UK based cross stitch magazine would have a USA 250 years of freedom pattern in it. Before I'd have laughed at the irony. Now it makes me feel queasy. Trump really has shat over how people feel about America.
Talking of out of print @dfbstoryhouse.bsky.social books, The Boy is a big fan of @neillcameron.bsky.social and Kate Brown's Tamsin books. He had withdrawal symptoms after the end of Mega Robo Bros so we got him Neill's back catalogue on World of Books.
This reminds me - I must check if my local co-op has removed this delightful pig shit stupid graffiti. I reported it as homophobic graffiti before I realised it was meant to read HMO out.
Which is a pity because cats are peak Loki. I mean this one is a complete chaos goblin that has taken the form of something adorable and somehow we still love her.
It's just a black and white cat but people call them tuxedo cats because they sometimes look like they are wearing tuxedos! Here's our big boy if you need a reference beast. 😆
@neillcameron.bsky.social The phoenix just arrived at our house. These are the "I don't give a shit what people think anymore" shoes I'm wearing.
There are dogs who know they're dogs and only talk to other dogs. There are dogs who think they're human and only talk to humans. Then there is my dog who seems to think she transcends definition and wants to talk to all humans, dogs, cats, squirrels, foxes, invisible beings only she can see.
@louiestowell.bsky.social's cover art for Loki made me laugh so I knew it would be a winner for The Boy. 😁 #KidsBooksFriday
This reminds me - The Boy and I played That's a Nice Hat out on a walk at the weekend. We found an excellent hat but as soon as he put it on it gave me way too many Handmaids Tale vibes. 😬😆
My cousin sent me this brocollie pun about 20 minutes before my husband cracked the same joke by putting a broccoli sticker on the dog.
Mine specialises in getting all up in your stuff. Maybe it's a tuxie thing. 😆
