Yesterday's breakfast at Flippers in Toronto. Souffle pancakes with fresh fruit and delicious MAPLE CREAM. The pancakes are so light and fluffy but surprisingly filling. I also like the little surprise (the good kind) at the bottom of the coffee cup.

Named after artist Connie Watt's grandmother, this dramatic work combines the features of the mythological Thunderbird with the personality of a woman Watts describes as determined, creative and generous. It is a strong example of Watts' style, with an innovative contemporary recasting of the elements of classic Northwest Coast art. Created from powder-coated aluminum and stained birch panels, Hetux looms above travellers as they walk through YVR's Pacific Passage, displaying images of animals and celestial bodies that represent aspects of Hetux's character including intensity, determination, joy and prosperity.

That Sheep Detectives movie had unexpected emotional depth! It felt a bit like Murder, She Wrote meets Scooby Doo--but with animals. Pretty good cast, too.

Some of the wildlife I saw today. A black-crowned night heron and a sparkly blue squid.

A bird about 15 inches tall (maybe) stands atop a wall. Its body is shaped a bit like a slender penguin. It is brownish gray with darker feathers on its head and back.

A sparkly blue squid shaped lure sits on a service bell in a food service ordering window. A piece of cardboard underneath the squid-bell has the handwritten words "Please shake squid for service."

Young Frankenstein (1974) and Dracula (1931), last weekend's pre Halloween B&W double feature. First time watching Dracula, which looked great for a nearly 100-year old film. Young Frankenstein is an old favorite. Such a good cast. #FilmSky

It seems that on the airport x-ray scanner, kulolo looks very much like explosive materials. The TSA guy had me clocked as a kulolo transporter, but they still had to pull and look inside the bag.
